We took the chance that 527's could be used to |
|
"get around McCain/Fiengold".....where will we be in 2006. Fucked Both of the authors of the CFR bill are pissed as hell at 527's...my bet ..."they'll be gone". Where do we go from here? I think some of our 527's and the Democratic response to them will either cost us in Oct. or Nov., or will take away our credibility when attempts are made to change the law in 2005.

1. Get the Fairness Doctrine reinstated and we won't NEED 527's |
|
That's the real skunk at the party..
The repubes have the 24/7 microphones across the country every day...all day...
and then we have the repube think tanks , who just churn out swill, but are "invited" to every "show"....
With the fairness doctrine in effect again, opposing viewpoints would HAVE to be shown with equal time and effect..
527's would be unnecessary..and some of the blowhards on rightwing shows would be GONE...forever..
The only reason they even exist now, is for the echo chamber effect...in the vacuum of any liberal viewpoints...
THAT'S why the repubes are so flummoxed..they thought they had the stage all to themselves, and with the loophole, we figured out a way to get onstage with them...

There are 2 things that will make more of a long-term difference in the next presidency than any particular piece of legislation.
Controlling the nominees for the Supreme Court and restoring fairness to the airwaves. People overlook the tremendous damage done to the democratic process done by the corporate conglomerates controlling the message. I believe in the ability of the American people to thinkj things through PROVIDED THEY GET AN HONEST REPRESENTATION OF THE FACTS. Currently, they don't. This must change. All else is secondary.

3. Heck, make the max contribution $50 |
|
That way I don't have to see so many of the stupid commercials. Make them get out and talk to people (REAL people, Georgie).
