I don't remember the exact words, but it was something like, 'as a journalist my job is to convey to the public what the White House tells me- without editorializing'.
She basically said the press is supposed to act as a PA system for the powerful.

editorializing. That is being objective. What she THEN has to do is investigate what the WH told her, and report on whether their information holds up. That second part is what they all seem to forget!
