Letter to the Iraqi people
At a time when distrust, hatred, and violence escalate out of control in many parts of the world, we feel an urgent need to communicate people to people, and to do so as openly, honestly, and directly as we can. In that spirit, we offer this "open letter" to the people of Iraq from people of the United States. We hope you will want to add your name as one of the signers.

Our intention is to send an Arabic translation of this letter - with the names of as many signers as possible - to a range of media outlets in or near Iraq, around the end of August, 2004. We will also issue a press release concerning the letter to media outlets in the U.S. at the time the letter is sent to Iraq.

We recognize that this letter is only one small effort to restore the world and we believe that each of us must act in our own way to live up to the responsibility this letter names.

2. thank you!
I signed it too needless to say. The person that sent me this link was a bit afraid to sign the letter. Does this maladministration suck or what? Now we are AFRAID to sign a letter that expresses our opinion re: what has been done to Iraq and the Iraqi people?

OVER MY DEAD COLD BODY WILL I EVER STOP PROTESTING THIS OR ANY OTHER WAR IN OUR WORLD!

3. Done. Thanks for the link.
Probably another entry in my FBI file for Ashcroft to fret about.

5. It wasn't strong enough for me. Many of us screamed and raged...
and wrote letters until our fingers bled. And some of us were fired upon by our own people.

We tried our best to stop this from happening. But all of our best efforts were in vain.

We tried. So many of us tried to stop this. But we couldn't. And we shall carry the shame of that failure to our graves.

There's nothing worse than feeling powerless.

Our arms can't reach across the sea to carry your wounded and dead loved ones. Our voices cannot comfort the mother whose child lies dead at her feet.

We can offer only a resolve to try to end this madness as soon as possible.
