GOP Implodes: Moderates accuse party of being out of mainstream
This "suggestion" was carried by AP and 7 other newspapers in the last two days; the rest of the "librul press" seems to have ignored it:

A Call to our Grand Old Party:

COME BACK TO THE MAINSTREAM

As Republican former Governors, Senators and public officials,
we urge our party to renew its allegiance to the proven, common sense values which unite America.

Instead of partisan ideology - which increasingly has led moderates to leave the party - what's needed is a speedy return to the pragmatic, problem-solving mainstream. Here's how the President and Republican-majority Congress can send that clear signal to the nation:

Stop weakening environmental law - and once again protect our air, water and public lands as Teddy Roosevelt and other great Republican leaders intended;

Restore fiscal responsibility - with "pay-as-you-go" budget discipline to end record deficits that jeopardize economic growth;

Put the health of millions first - and clear the way for embryonic stem cell research;

Appoint mainstream federal judges - and respect the Constitution;

Make America safer - and protect cities and towns, still vulnerable three years after 9/11, by securing chemical and nuclear plants and shipping containers;

Rebuild our alliances – with real partnerships and restore America’s standing in the world.

By returning to the mainstream in these ways, our party can regain the trust of a divided nation and earn a vote of confidence in November.

1. Yeah seems to me the ONLY place I've really heard
about the moderate's complaint has been here and a few other Liberal sites but not the main stream.

4. the Illinois republican party`s
hard right party goons have just committed suicide with their forcing of keyes on the ballot. up to 80% of the republicans in Illinois will not vote for him. Illinois has had some and still do have very good republican office holders who are appalled by the right wing in this state...

party lines. Swing state Republicans, being the most likely.
I have a hunch some Republican leaders could come out of this smelling like a rose if they jumped party lines or at least just became a little scarce" when * came a knocking. And if one defects, more may follow. This is gonna get very interesting. I wonder what's being discussed in the JK war room. Probably, saying lets keep the pressure on but lets not overplay our hand.
