Networks tweeking antenna(free) TV.
I recently dissed my satellite receiver and bought a used antenna at a garage sale and have been recieving free TV. About 6 channels where I live in northern Arizona.
Strangely, just yesterday the networks started running certain shows in Spanish. Tonnight it was M.A.S.H. in Spanish!
Also, the channels are randomly deleting sound. I'm not kidding. I know it isn't a fluke because it consistantly happens when the commercials come on.
Sounds nuts because the advertisers couldn't aprove of that, but that is exactly what is going on.
Never done this before.
Anyone else having this happen. Is it some sort of ploy to get everyone to pay for television or something?
I don't know what the hell.

1. Sounds like a blessing to me
You get to practice up on your Spanish, and you don't have to hear commercials. That ain't so bad.

2. I'm thinking the same thing.
Over a year ago the FCC allowed a sale of a local affiliate to go through that cut off hundreds of thousand of viewers in San Francisco and to the north from receiving NBC. Part of the deal was that the new owner was supposed to increase the signal to reconnect those viewers. This never happened and there is no talk of it ever happening. Funny enough, I've been having trouble recently receiving CBS and several people I know without cable are having the same problem. One day I told my husband that I thought it was some kind of ploy to get everyone to pay for TV and the next day I'm reading the television reviewer in the SF Chronicle and he's castigating people who are complaining about not being able to see the Olympics... essentially saying, "Get over it and buy cable already." !!!!

3. Are you sure that you don't have "SAP" enabled on your TV?

It sounds like you could be listening to the secondary audio program.

4. High Definition TV over the air
Many places it is the best way to get TV. Many of the stations are currently switching over, and some of those stations have some technical diffilculties that may at times affect the stream. However, when it's up and running it is good, far better than standard TV. Now, if they would only work on content as it may be a great picture and sound to watch, if the content sucks it is worthless.
