My plan to end the abortion debate |
|
and conservatives should love it. (at least based on their rhetoric)
;-)
It's a simple 4 part program that would stop abortions dead in their tracks, plus allow for tax cuts.
1) Force all males aged 14 through 35 to get compulsory estrogen supplements. This will solve a myriad of problems. a) no unwed pregnancies. b) no rapes c) reduced welfare roles d) massive reduction in the number of abortions. e) no unwanted pregnancies f) Lower taxes in support of social programs, as in school lunch programs and free medical care for unmarried women and their children.(this one should have conservatives jumping onboard!)
These measures should appeal to conservatives on many levels. They don't seem to have a problem with legislating women's bodies, show us your guts and step up to the plate and make the men responsible.Legislate men's bodies.
2) Married males shall be required to obtain their wives written permission to conceive.Only after verification of permission, said males will be allowed a two month relief period from estrogen therapy to conceive, afterwhich their window will close and estrogen therapy will resume. If you're not packing the gear to conceive after the two months, you're obviously not going to continue the family line and in all probability, a picture of Ricky Martin in tight jeans excites you more than your wife does and it's best that your family tree stops at your stump.
3) There will be a 24 hour waiting period for any married male before being allowed sexual intercourse and mandatory counseling to consider the consequences of your actions, must be completed before you're allowed sexual intercourse with a complaint female, restricted of course to your married spouse.Tax and financial consequences as well as societial implications will be covered during the consoling sessions.
4) Any male found attempting to or found guilty of, sexual relations with a female other than his wife will be required to undergo estrogen therapy with an increased dosage above the prescribed mandated dosage and shall be blacklisted from conceiving. In addition, his wages shall be garnished and deposited into a general fund until it has been determined if the female has conceived. If she has, his wages shall be garnished until the child reaches the age of 18, or graduates from college to relieve the taxpayers of supporting said child. It's his, he can pay for it..If it is determined that the female does not conceive, the wage garnishment shall be halted and any funds accrued during that time shall directed to a general fund to help pay for the estrogen therapy treatment program to decrease the burden on the taxpayers to help fund said program.

My reasons are different though. I think it is also a cure for war.

But I think we should make them give sperm deposit to cover any future wish on his wifes (with his agreement) part to be pregnant. Then sterilization for all men at the age of about 14.

7. This reminds me of a conversation I had with |
|
an 84-year-old lady at breakfast a few weeks ago. It was one of those charity events and we (several Dems including a couple of very young campaign workers) were sitting at a long table next to a couple with young children.
We were wearing our Dem stuff and the guy started talking politics with us. He essentially said that the only reason he doesn't vote Dem is the abortion issue. This sweet little old lady (an old Wisconsin socialist) said, calmly and without any hesitation, "It's not about abortion, it's about being able to decide what happens to your own body. What if we forced men to have vasectomies?" she asked. "It's the same thing." Shut the guy right up.
The young campaign workers were quite surprised by the unflappable octagenarian. After the family finished their breakfast and left, she told them that she was too old to put up with that crap.
I'll share this with her. I'm sure she'd enjoy it.
