Don't remember "fast food jokes" when Pat Buchanan had his "Quadruple." |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-03-04 02:46 PM by KoKo01
Remember in 2000 when Republican Pat Bucanan had to take time out for his Quad during the campaign?
Fast food eating is not the cause of heart disease. If it were, then all overweight McDonald's/Burger King/BBQ Loving men and women over a certain age would die of heart attacks. They don't.
And, how many athletes have died of heart attacks? hmmmm.
Seems MSNBC/CNN are really going over the top on this one. There's a genetic component and that's why the "Statin" drugs work for those who have a predispostion to developing heart disease. It's the way your body processes the fat. Doesn't mean that you can't get diabetes or high blood pressure which would cause heart disease from eating fast food, but those who don't have those two diseases first shouldn't be tarred with "Fast Food Junkie life style" catching up with them.
Had to post this because I'm so pissed at the joking about Clinton's eating habits. And, because anyone who knows about the latest in Heart Care knows that not everyone who had to have bypass has been a "junk food eater" all their lives.

1. You know maybe some people will see what the media does to people.... |
|
Clinton has alot of clout in the good ole world these days, and more people than you think might be irritated at what the media is doing to Clinton.
One day what the media does....IS going to backfire.....

3. They did mention steroids |
|
I don't have any cites handy, but I certainly remember comments in the media about steroid use contributing to his medical problems.

4. If Clinton's eating habits did cause him to need a bypass ... |
|
and I agree with you that it's bogus for them to claim it, since much of what I know about heart trouble tends to indicate many such problems are genetic ... then what explanation do they have for that ticking meat bomb (requiring the installation of a miniature defibrillator) that Dick Cheney's toting around in his thorax?

7. And Cheney has been reported to love those big 16 oz steaks the fat |
|
cats like to eat at those Board and Business meetings. He doesn't look very fit to me. Probably he takes an extra Pravacol over the required dose to help him stay alive. He looked quite "portly" in the footage I saw of him.
CNBC even reported that business executives are popping an extra "statin drug" so they can enjoy those fat laden meals at the posh resorts and Board Meeting lunches and dinners since they have to look like Macho Men who can chow down their beef. :eyes:

What happens on down the road, when they find out some people suffer from liver or brain damage from these drugs, I wonder? And I kind of suspect Cheney's not in good health -- they go to such great trouble to make him look rosy-cheeked and vital in every picture. Makes me want to say, 'oh, they did a really good job -- he looks so natural!'

5. "Fast food eating is not the cause of heart disease"??? |
|
It certainly is one of the factors. Connect the dots: 1) Atherosclerosis is one of the causes of heart disease. 2) You increase your risk of developing atherosclerosis by being overweight and having high cholesterol. 3) Too much fast food in your diet contributes to being overweight and having high cholesterol.
Genetics plays a major role, but diet and exercise certainly contribute.

6. It's not the sole cause of heart disease which is what the Cable Whores |
|
are implying. Even vegan's can get heart disease.
