Why Bush's convention bump is a GOOD thing.
Plain and simple, it keeps Kerry supporters (and anyone else who can't stand the thought of four more years of Bush) from thinking they can stay home on Election Day.

Conversely, it might just have the opposite effect on Bush voters.

Don't forget, there are TWO MORE MONTHS to go. Kerry wasn't really able to spend any money on advertising in August.

It ain't over till it's over, people.

2. I agree. Personally,
I will try to find some spare time to volunteer right away, whereas I had planned to "merely" work my butt off on election day to get folks to the polls. The RNC fired me up!

3. It's up to Kerry
to fight back.

We all want him to win; we've donated time and treasure to his cause, others have answered the attacks, BUT HE MUST STAND UP AND FIGHT BACK.

NOW.

I don't want to see any more pictures of him wind-surfing.

4. Plain talk
Congressman Dave Obey (WI)is coming to our house tomorrow for a back yard talk to speak on Kerry's behalf. We expect about 40 people. I will ask Dave if he will talk to Kerry about simplifying his message. Unfortunately, a great many Americans are too stupid or lazy to go beyond the sound bites. He has to come out with slogans and black and white statements that the electorate can understand.

5. the polling (Newsweak) is skewed...
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040904/nysa058_1.html

By their own addmission Republicans and Independents were over represented:

Newsweek Poll: Post-Republican Convention, Princeton Survey Research
Associates International

Final Topline Results
(9/4/04)

N = 1,008 Registered Voters, 18 and over
Margin of error: plus or minus 4
Interviewing dates: September 2-3, 2004

SAMPLE SIZE/MARGIN OF ERROR FOR TOTAL ADULTS:
1,188 Total adults (plus or minus 3)

SAMPLE SIZE/MARGIN OF ERROR FOR REGISTERED VOTERS SUBGROUPS:
1,008 Registered voters (plus or minus 4)

505 Thursday interviews (plus or minus 5)
503 Friday interviews (plus or minus 5)

374 Republicans (plus or minus 6)
303 Democrats (plus or minus 6)
300 Independents (plus or minus 6)

That makes the breakdown 38% Republicans, 31% Democrats and 31% Independents.

In reality there are 72 million registered Democrats, 55 million registered Republicans and 42 million are Independents. That breaks down to 43% Democrats, 32% Republicans and 25% Independents.
