The term "Democrat Party" is really pissing me off. |
|
I know that is probably the point. I think that any media outlet that starts calling the Democratic Party by that republican mantra should be hounded into not using a new puke talking point. Seriously, the republicans do not want Democratic, Democracy to be confused with "democracy." Can I tell you how much I really despise the republican guards. Oh, that's Iraq.

1. We need to change the name |
|
and call ourselves "the Deamocracy party". They'll wish they had left the name alone.

2. Its even worse to hear Democrats |
|
refer to the Party that way. Apparently some don't know its meant to be disparaging to the Party and not just a shortened name.

this lifelong Democrat was raised referring to our party at the "Democrat Party" daddy and grandadday also called it that. This is not new. Why are people suddenly all upset about it?

5. Because it's a wingnut meme that was purposely started in the 90's |

to disparage Democrats and the Democratic party. They just cannot abide that little -ic at the end, apparently. And me, my daddy, and my granddaddy all said the Democratic party, not the Democrat party. We know an adjective when we see one!
on edit, may I ask: are you a swing voter, as your name implies? Or a lifelong Democrat, as your post states? Which is it?

registered Democrat all my life (has been every known member of my family dating back to pre-Civil war days).
However, I consider myself a swing voter, I do not vote a straight democratic ticket, I voted for Ross Perot in 1992 for example. I am very much with the Democratic program in this election as the Bushes do much damage to the economy here (Both Bush 1 and 2).
My family likes strong Democratic leadership such as FDR and Truman, strong on defense and the military as well as at home. When the party started being taken over by "dippy hippy" types we became disillusioned with it. Clinton renewed my enthusiasm for the Democratic party. Now that Clinton helped to marginalize the radical lefties, I am hoping that we can bring our party back to greatness.

I have diaries from a family member that were written during the Civil War and they called our party the "Democrat Party" I do not understand why you say this name has only been used since the 1990's? That is provably wrong.

No need to change the name. The proper name is The Democratic Party?
And yes, it pisses me off too.
