Conservatives Want Dan Rather Fired
Just noticed this while going to Celiberal. It's basically a site kind of like PABAAH. Anyway, the poster is connected with PABAAH as well(he's a moderator on the site). This is what the post says.

"During America's time of need several sources have dishonored our soldiers and our commander in chief. One of the most mainstream news sources currently out there perpetrating these false news stories is CBS's 60 Minutes and Dan Rather. Now, accusations are coming forward that show that Dan Rather or someone associated with the Democratic party faked documents in order to accuse Bush of not fulfilling his National Guard duty. Maybe the Rather or the team of reporters at CBS should have checked these documents for legitimacy instead of just throwing them on the TV screen to slander our leader. I think that the conservatives of this board need to fight back and tell CBS how we feel about Rather's "reporting". Currently, PABAAH is targeting CBS for a letter writing campaign.

It's time to show Dan Rather the door

hammer writes "I have written SEE B.S. about how DUMB BLATHER is showing a liberal bias in the way he is conducting his job. The text of my letter is as follows:

I am extremely dissatisfied with the way Dan Rather is conducting himself with the way he performs his job and it is time to fire him. He has proven himself NOT to be an objective journalist, rather he has regressed 100 years and is a sensationalistic, yellow journalist. As a journalist myself, I an offended with Mr. Rather's performance and you wish to restore CBS's credibility, Mr. Rather needs to be fired right away. It's obvious that other Americans feel the same way I do because the ratings for the CBS Evening News are rapidly declining. Want a good example of a news network - watch Fox News. Mr. Rather can learn a lot from Fox.

5. Oh geesh, I wonder how many letters like that Dan has received
in his career? Dan & CBS are used to this BS, and I'm sure get them all the time. I sent a letter to CBS evening news telling them he did a terrific job, and not to crumble under the assault of the RW. You all need to do that too! My one email offset PABAAH's, now your's has to tell them that nut is the minority!

BTW, I doubt Dan nor CBS cares that they get slaming emails. They know they told the truth, and the job of a news group is to make enemies when you have to.

7. CBS is not known for their courage
Remember their absolute cowardice after "the Reagans" fiasco. CBS gave in and unfortunately they sent a message to the right wing that they can be bullied. Hence, they are trying it again.

9. About Those Word Processors
I was reading up a little on this forum about how everything that the "experts" claim couldn't be done back then could actually be done. Even some of the documents that are actually official have some of the same things on them that people are saying prove the other documents fake. If there's someone on here who actually knows this stuff please go post it on Celiberal and on the news article on PABAAH. Personally, I don't have enough knowledge of this stuff to actually post a good argument. It'll probably be deleted but worth a shot I guess. Try not to cuss them out or get on their bad side. Just post the facts.

22. There was a segment on tonight's
"CBS News with Dan Rather" about the authenticity of the docs. They brought on their academic who verified that the docs were authentic. He when through how he authenticated them and said he stood by his determination of the docs. He also said that he realized the danger to his career that this could cause, but that he only sought the truth and that was all he had presented - was the truth. He guy was 100% creditable, you could see that he was scared, but he has guts and that is what is going to save us, if anything does; little people with guts who just stand up and tell the truth.

17. About PABAAH, Warning To Those Who Click That Link
I remembered awhile back that people said that when you click on a link from certain sites PABAAH will redirect you to a You Are An Idiot popup page. Is DU one of the blacklisted sites? Be warned if you click on that link in my first post.

14. We have to support any "blows against the Empire" that
come our way. I don't care how badly CBS has whored in the past, if they are turning around, I say, "Good"! Any inch we get is as good as a mile in this country's "Pravda" press.

Here's the email that I just send to CBS -

I would like to compliment Mr. Rather and CBS News for the recent "60 Minutes II" segment concerning President Bush's National Guard duty (or lack there of). I realize how difficult it is in this country, at this time, to present real, honest, important news on the publics airways. I appreciate the courage and integrity that Mr. Rather, and CBS News, displayed in running with this pertinent, well documented story. I hope that real, balanced and honest reports will continue to be your product. I will certainly continue to consider CBS News "a cut above" its competition.

16. Real conservatives don't have a problem. Bush-Republicans are Royalists
who would sign loyalty oaths to Bush, just as so many subjects were forced to do by Kings of another time.

These people understand nothing but blind loyalty to an authoritarian Bush power.

25. Freeper emails made the local CBS news tonight.
Local news disgorged them whole, for our viewing pleasure.

I was disgusted. They discussed the "controversy" about the authenticity of the documents Rather and 60 Minutes had used.

Then, they read two emails on the air of the local news (Channel 11, Houston, a CBS affiliate) that called for Dan Rather's resignation and said they were in disbelief that CBS would air something based on forged documents. They did NOT read any of a differing opinion.

Sigh.

19. I don't know where this "word processor" crap is coming from.
After I got off of active duty in the Navy in 1969 I worked once a week in the Naval Reserve office in Bloomington, Indiana. In 1970 or 1971 we were issued IBM typewriters that had all the capabilities in question and more.

23. That story has been completely discredited.
There was a long thread about it (with links) on DU earlier today, I didn't save it, but it was there. Maybe someone knows where to find it. Anyway, the "fraudulent documents" story has been proved to be total shit. The docs are real.

They can't handle the truth, can they? They know Kerry served admirably and Bush put his tail between his legs and got drunk for eight months instead of service to his country.

Boo hoo hoo. Cry me a river you freeper babies.

26. CBS news reply back
Dear Freeper,

Thank you for taking your valuable time to write to us. We appreciate your comments, and appreciate how you've made CBS Evening News with Dan Rather the #1 rated news show on TV.

Please rest assured that your correspondance has received our utmost attention and consideration. We value feedback from loyal viewers like yourself.

Your concerns were compelling. Unfortunately, in contrast to the charges made on the CBS News with Dan Rather, your charges have no basis in fact. Frankly, we suggest here at CBS that you may need some psychiatric help.

So to finalize, thank you for writing, and fuck you and the horse you rode in on. And thank you again for making CBS Evening News with Dan Rather #1

Yours truly,
CBS-TV

28. PABAAH Removed It
Don't know exactly why but it appears that PABAAH removed the article. I guess they figured out that DU people were about to come in or maybe they realized that the documents were real. Not really sure.
