**I didn't know what the thing was advertising exactly until I went to the wedsite and then googled "National Alliance + White supremacy" Did I mention that this thing came in a plastic bag with sand in the bottom and tied at the top (i.e easy to throw from a car window)? This freaks me out more than just a little. I live just outside of Tacoma WA in a slightly seedy neighborhood but right next to a liberal arts college. I hate to think that White "Seperatists" are active in the area. Has anyone here ever dealt with this kind of thing before? Any advice/ reassurance would be welcome. :scared:

I believe it was an Ethiopian immigrant, who was beaten to within an inch of his life by neonazi/skinheads.

1) Contact the Simon Weisenthal Center at 800 900.9036 and ask them what to do with it. They may tell you which local authorities to raise it up to. The Southern Poverty Law Center is probably out of the region for you, but can also be reached at: 334.956.8200. They might be able to offer advice.

2) Is there some reason why they would single you out? Contact your neighbors and see if they also received such "missives".

12. Thought about that

Was thinking if their was any chance that my house was specifically targeted. I guess if whoever is involved has been scouting the neighborhood they would have seen three young white guys moving in (me and my house mates). Needless to say they wasted a flier since all of us either graduated or are currently attending Pacific Lutheran University and so regardless of our political standings, we recognize the true value of diversity and harmony among all cultural/socio-economic/ethnic classes. More than likely these cowards just blanketed the neighborhood looking for any takers.

first on campus (Indiana U.), then in the community (Bloomington)... gets rebuffed, and the community comes together to make a statement about not accepting racist literature/ideology ("not in my community"... was the theme). Less than a year later the perp {benjamin smith} (an individual, not a group) goes on a racist killing spree between Illinois and Indiana.

Within the past year the leader of the group to which smith was affiliated, Nathan Hale, was sentenced to jail for trying to put a contract out on a judge.

...I really hope this type of thing doesn't escalate where I'm at. The University has worked really hard over the past decade to establish good ties with the economically and ethnically diverse neighborhood where it is located and I would hate to see something like this cause problems.

Hale's church became widely known in July 1999 after one of its members, Benjamin Smith, went on a three-day shooting spree that left two dead and nine others wounded before Smith killed himself.

Hale was arrested in January on charges of soliciting the murder of a federal judge and remains jailed in Chicago.

Walsh was jailed in Joliet during the first half of 2002 while awaiting trial for two holdups of Mitchell's Food Mart in Joliet. He was convicted in June and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

While in jail in April 2002, Walsh writes in his self-filed lawsuit, he ordered a copy of "The White Man's Bible" and "other religious materials" from the church.

One of his followers is sueing the jail he's in.......

These people have been active for sometime in Puyallup area and southend. Report it to the police. They need to know this group is still operating.

Remember that nutcase from Tacoma who went to Los Angeles and shot all the people at the Jewish daycare center? He was affiliated with this group. I think the police are very interested in monitoring their activities.

Long story. Cops and the newspaper were called. The newspaper did a piece and found out that the 23 yr. old who did this was a surgeon's son and mentally ill. Then, two months ago, his girlfriend was found shot to death on a neighbor's front porch. He's currently in jail awaiting trial for murder.

National Alliance is William Pierce's(who died a few years back, notorious neo-nazi) organization. He is the one who wrote "The Turner Diaries" which was what supposedly inspired Tim MCVEy to blow up the building in Oklahoma City. They have branches all over the US.

MOrris Dee's Southern Poverty Law Center monitors these groups and puts out reports. You can even go to a map of the states on his website to see the names of all racist groups in each state and a description of each. They send out an "Intelligence Report" to donors that gives an update on their activities.

Supposedly militias, who were fading out in the later '90's, have been regrouping.

23. I used to be more up on the groups that monitor hate groups

in the mid-90's but lost touch with all of that as I moved etc. I am sure there are more local groups specific to that area that deal with this sort of thing since the Pacific Northwest has ALWAYS been a hotbed of hate group activity. After a bit more research I could come up with names of more local groups.I used to donate and get newsletters from many of them. As a gay person I am a target so I was always interested to know about them.

The police are NOT really the first people I would contact in a situation like this.I would report it to them but I would feel better by contacting a group that monitors this sort of thing. Police won't want to devote lots of time on somebody just dropping "literature".
