Every time I see Wes Clark speak |
|
I am more and more impressed with the guy. He was the candidate which impressed me the most during the primary.
Since the nomination I have really grown to like Kerry, but Wes always struck me as a balanced thoughtful guy who is really devoted to service to country.
I truly hope there is a place for Wes in the Kerry administration. Sec. of State or Sec. of Defense?
I think he'd really be a great asset.

1. Can't be Sec of Def by law for a few more years. |
|
But I like Clark to and wish Kerry would use him more.

5. He was the one the coWard's handlers feared most... |
|
WH bootlickers from the Pentagon were coming out of the woodwork trying to disparage Clark's record (lame stuff), a backhanded signal that they actually respect him & consider him a threat.
The requirement for Sec. of Defense is that one must be retired for 10 years' active military service.
I'm hoping to see Clark as Sec. of State. :bounce:

8. oops please excuse my ignorance |
|
about the Sec. of Defense requirements.
I would still like to see Wes run for higher office someday.
I think he is a leader the whole country could really get behind.

11. No problem sjr, I learned about it myself only a few months ago... |

If anyone was meant for Sec. of Defense, it's Wesley Clark. I was disappointed to learn about the requirements. With his background, intelligence, diplomacy, & overall demeanor, I'd love to see him appointed to a highly visible position in Kerry's administration -- Sec. of State.
We've got a great presidential team in Kerry/Edwards, & I'd like to see Wesley Clark in the #3 position, at least.

...but I would've been okay with Clark, especially with the campaign Kerry has run thus far.
I'm still not counting him out, but I do hope to see more of Clark in the campaign...

7. I saw him last week too |
|
I watched his speech twice on CSPAN. He is great and was my favorite too. He would be a strong gift to Kerry!!! I also wish he would use Clark more. There is nothing Bushco can do to discredit Clark. Put him in a commercial. Put him on the talk shows. He is strong. He could crush Bush with his baby toe

9. You should read his books |
|
"Winning Modern Wars" is excellent.
It is a blow by blow account of smirky's excellent adventure in Iraq, plus some very valuable insights into how it came to be.
Wes hasn't gotten a whole lotta publicity for what he had to say, but in this book he reveals the role of PNAC. He also gives his account on how the traditional strategists in the Pentagon were appalled by what they were being ordered to do, and the subsequent head rollings that took place there, as His Chimperial Majesty and Rummy chucked out the top brass who rejected the PNAC plan, and replaced them with the imcompetents who were loyal to it.
He also critiques the "Smirky Doctrine" of pre-emption, and demonstrates, from the viewpoint of a top general, how it is disastrous.
Thanks for lending your weight to these critical issues, Wes. Many of us sure appreciate it. If you happen to run into John Kerry, could you ask him to talk about this stuff too, as its pretty darn important.
