E-Mail LAUER re: His Assault of Kitty KELLEY

It's been two days of whipping her (though she holds her own) by LAUER. Today he even said, "Are you coming back tomorrow for MORE of THIS?" And he said, with a threatening tone, that on tomorrow's lashing he will be reading e-mails and phone system messages. I really don't think the wingnuts can outnumber us.

I've sent an e-mail and called. The woman who answered listened and said she would pass the message along. Others have posted that the person they got on the phone argued back defensively. Depends on who you get.

on edit: Yeah he did lie on national TV! Just watched the video of him putting around with Bushdaddy. He kicked it with the ex-Prez for "several hours" that week. Lauer said he was going to read hate letters they'd received to Kelley tomorrow. Well, here's mine. Let's see if he reads it:


My name is GW Bush and I approve of Matt Lauer's hatchet job!

Matt Lauer plugs his ears and hums whenever negative stories about Bush threaten his cozy relationship with the White House. Like most of the rest of the mainstream media, he has done nothing but produce infomercials for the GOP. Instead of taking his job seriously, he chose to ignore the lies and distortions of the Bush administration for four years. He chose to focus on the shallow and the trivial. Now, Lauer has the monumental gall to attack Kelley's credibility like he did Michael Moore's a few months ago as if Lauer had any credibility himself. The tone of his interview suggests he believes his reporting on the Today Show somehow rises above the level of Kitty Kelley's work. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Journalists like Matt Lauer got American soldiers killed for a lie because they were more interested in ratings than truth, more interested in access to the White House than in doing hardhitting stories or asking tough questions. At least Kelley's work doesn't need to be prefaced with the endorsement: "My name is George W. Bush and I approve of this message" as all of Lauer's stories should be labelled.

I hate it when they get on their high horses and act like they are anything different than Kelley. Maybe there was time when we could make distinctions between the likes of Lauer and Kelley, but I think that line has pretty much been blurred over the past few years.

What a stupid jerk. I'd be embarassed to be as unaccomplished as Lauer.

Dear Today Show,

I got the distinct impression that Matt Lauer did not prepare himself sufficiently for his interview today with author Kitty Kelley. He did not want to have a discussion of George W. Bush's cocaine use, so he just changed the subject. The only subject he had to present was that Kitty Kelley's book had "nothing positive" about George W. Bush. I would note that there is no reason that her book had to have anything positive about George W. Bush. By that time in the interview, it was obvious that Matt Lauer's objective was not to interview the author, but to present a defense George W. Bush. It would have been appropriate for the Today Show engineering staff to put "Matt Lauer, Republican Spokesman" as a subtitle up when Matt Lauer was in shot.
