Did anyone watch Chris Matthews today (K. Kelley, S. Hersch) |
|
Kitty Kelley was terrific and Matthews couldn't get her stumbling all over herself. He showed more than the usual amount of respect and she did extremely well explaining how she did her book, how it was vetted, how she did her sources, why so many are anonymous, etc. She kept her cool and was very believable.
Sy Hersch, the same. Again, his sources, like Kelley's wished to remain anonymous in many cases, but he talked about that, explained it well, explained the truly extensive negative ramifications of AbU Graib in the Arab world, how the prison cruelty had to come from way higher than the immediate soldiers, he talked about the non-win strategy going on in Iraq now, etc. He mentioned that no American firms should even try finding work in Iraq now; reason is that the climate is so bad toward Americans.
Of course, both of these guests were effectively anti-Bush and if this kind of stuff keeps getting aired over the next few weeks, the egomaniac in the WH is going to lose.

1. I found it interesting that it was ok for Hersch to conceal his sources |
|
but not Kelley. Chris should realize any source needs protection from B$$$co. CIA now or CIA then, it's a lot of the same game to be played.

I saw a little of the segment with Sy Hersch, toward the end, where Matthews kept stopping on his answers to M's previous questions. Very annoying. Of course, Sy is a PRINT reporter, so he isn't all that good at getting to the point for teevee.
Wish I'd seen the KK segment, but I just watched a VERY satisfying Aaron Brown interview with her. That's what I like: an interviewer who gives the interviewee a fairly decent chance to actually answer the question and finish her point. Like the good ole days. And KK did terrific. She is VERy good.

5. That was interesting. He, of all people, knows how Washington |
|
operates. And he know how the Bush family operates, through their money, intimidation, etc. But he was still way more respectful of her than he is with a lot of people and it seemed to show he was "buying" what she was saying. He realized, I think, he couldn't trip her up.

2. Thanks for your report, barb! |

All I can say is..it's a good thing we have the Likes of Kitty Kelly and Sy Hersh and others who are making news so that there's a reason to get anti-fascists on talkinghead shows.

Today and yesterday were good days politically. After watching the swifties and Kerry's numbers going down for a few weeks, ohmygod, and now Kelley, Hirsch are on TV telling the country of the bad Iraq policy, about Bush doing coke, about how that whole Bush family operates, etc. Then Dan Rather is doing the documents on the Bush national guard stuff. I know the egomaniac's poll numbers are going to go down. The interviewers can't "break" Kelley or Sy Hersch.
