sitting behind Bush at the NH "Q&A" stop. (the clapping is on cue, but obviously fueled by the camp followers)

Isn't that one of Stephen King's favorite little towns to use as the setting for spinning out his horror yarns?

6. I noticed that at the RNC convention, too

...all the people in the audience, the DELEGATES!, the HARDCORE republicans!, seemed bored to tears the whole time. The "zingers" in speaches that were supposed to bring down the house merely brought polite applause. It was like they didn't want to be there, or they knew they were supporting a loser. Or maybe it was just because republicans tend to have six-foot rods up their asses.

The Democratic convention, by contrast, was as firey as could be. People were genuinely enthusiastic about the people on stage.
