Poll question: If your SO was kidnapped in Iraq and threatened with beheading, would you |
|
Go on TV on national news/gossip shows to plead for your SO's life?
I forgot her name, but the wife of one of the three hostages in Iraq today did. And the deadline runs out today. :scared:

1. Unless my SO was an Iraqi... |
|
my SO wouldn't be in Iraq.
That said, if my SO was kidnapped, yes I would plead for her life.

I can't see my other half (or anyone I'm close to) going to Iraq, the westerners accepting highly paid jobs there now are taking money from Iraq when there is huge unemployment there. There is no need for an Australian to be working as a truck driver or an American to be working as an engineer etc.
I don't think those holding them are watching Oprah too much, and (resasonably) the governments of other nations can't do deals with them.

The helplessness of the families must be the most difficult part of it.
But, you need at least a third choice:
Yes, but doubt it would make a difference.

4. No. I would instead go on TV on national news/gossip shows |
|
to denounce shrub, the neocons, and everything they stand for. In short, she would not have died in vain.

You don't have enough options.

6. I feel for those families. |
|
I can't imagine the horror and fear they must be feeling. I imagine that I'd do just about anything if I thought it might save my husband's life...
Having said that, in a more pragmatic view--one without a loved one in the hands of crazed fanatics--I'd like to think that I'd have the personal conviction to go public with my criticisms of the "asswipe in chief" that got us into this mess in the first place.
I'd want to stand up and take that spotlight long enough to call out the liar and his flock of war-hawks.

I voted yes, but I don't believe that it would make a difference.
I would do just about anything to try to save my son's life. The other choices could have been just a plain "Yes", as any parent would do whatever they could to help thier son/child/loved one.
I can't imagine the horrible pain that these families are going through. I can only pray for them and for our country.
