Vote Now to Bring the Troops Home
VOTE NOW TO BRING THE TROOPS HOME!

More than a million people participated in the People's
Anti-War Referendum. Through your participation and
activism, we together have forged something the world has
never seen, a powerful anti-war movement that became a
political force even before war was initiated. Although
the Bush gang defied the will of the people and moved
forward with the war to seize Iraq, their dream of
conquering the country has led to the biggest crisis of
the Administration.

Your activism is needed now more than ever. The world is
uniting in opposition to the U.S. occupation of Iraq. This
war was built upon lies. Hundreds of thousands of U.S.
troops were told that they would be welcomed as liberators
and not occupiers. Bechtel, Halliburton and the oil and
banking corporations will make billions from the takeover
and privatization of Iraq. But every day the occupation
continues, more military families will be delivered the
news of their loved one's death or injury, just as tens of
thousands of Iraqis have been killed and maimed. Bush and
Congress must be held accountable for this criminal
endeavor.

The Bring the Troops Home Now! Referendum is a new way to
join with hundreds of thousands of people across the
country and tell the Bush Administration and Congress to
Get U.S. Troops Out of Iraq Now. Voters will be given the
(optional) choice of having their referendum ballot &
personal message delivered immediately via e-mail to the
U.S. President, Vice President and Congresspeople. You can
add to or personalize your ballot/communication, so that
the recipient can know exactly how you feel. Ballots will
be automatically processed and counted, and updates will
be available on the web site.

4. Chaos and privacy
The UN or Nato needs to be there first or many more innocents will die.

I am very afraid, in these times, to give my name and address to a site or a redirecter and have the information wind up in a poindexter
binder.

Do you not understand the ruthlessness of the regime? Why do these 'vote to ' sites require my name and address?

don't you imagine that they ALREADY have everything they need on us - posting here, writing letters to the newspapers, etc., etc.

Don't think they can't find out any damn thing they want to find out about us when they want to. Watch "Enemy of the State" - and you'll get the true picture. Every bit of that technology exists - satellites can watch a blade of grass in another country (which of course begs the question why they can't find Saddam or Osama) - a joke.

But the reason we need to keep pushing and reacting and speaking out is EXACTLY for the very same reason you stated - we can either fear them and do nothing - or we can tell them as long as I live in America you can kiss my ass. Lives are at stake here - I will not back down and I will not shut up and I will not quit writing - I will participate in my life to the fullest until all of these thugs are out in the street.

On Edit: Welcome to DU - the more of us the better - it will be okay. Welcome aboard :hi:

6. Tremendously important - what I wake up and go to sleep thinking about
Its a pretty shameless thing we're doing over there.

I am a Dean supporter and continue to be, but I am concerned that he states we need to remain in Iraq?

Why?

First question: why are we there?

If we are there because some of our American companies can make a mint off of oil and we can control OPEC prices, what the hell are we doing? Take a look at our oil prices at the pump right now.

Have we become that immoral, or have we never been moral to begin with?

If so, I want a moral leader.

We have the capacity and the know how to renew and utilize clean energy.

We could give subsidies and tax breaks to the oil companies for their shifts in energy. Why are we not doing this?

Oil is finite. When oh when are we going to learn.

Hopefully sooner than later.

Thanks for your post and yes, there are many of us that care more than you know.

5. End the Occupation of Iraq
Bring the Troops Home Now!

This is on the t-shirt I wear everywhere and on a 8 x 4 foot sign that I made for our weekly peace vigil held every Friday night. It's my number one concern. I will be in Washington of the 25th!

Thanks for the thread.

12. Thank you
just you saying that really warms my heart - good for you!!

How anyone with a conscious can let things continue the way they are is beyond me. The end of all wars should be all of our #1 concern. Thanks.

I must leave for the day so I hope this stays kicked - for the cause.

8. Did you guys know that Perle was just quoted as saying
the U.S. screwed up and we should turn the government over to the Iraqis and leave asap?

He did. And he was in (horrors) France when he said it.
Check out LBN.

No sarcasm here. It's true.

11. Nope
I'm going to have to go over to LBN and check it out - man - that is a jawdropper. What the hell? Especially since Pearle is one of the PNAC group - he ADMITTED IT WAS A MISTAKE?????

And I suspect that will go over about the same as "BUSH MISLED", anything but say he out and out lied to you folks - "screw you I'm going home". In the words of Cartman...

14. KEEP THEM THERE.
They have a job to do.

I DO NOT agree with the war and why we're there, but it is STUPID to bring them all back and leave Iraq in shambles.

15. Wrong
I think in all honesty they all ought to throw down their weapons and say "we're done". We are hot, tired, hungrey and fed up - and we're done. Then they can tell Bush to "bring it on" - what's he going to do about it.

The Iraqi people were very capable of owning their own businesses, raising their families, getting educations, etc., etc. They DO NOT NEED NOR DO THEY WANT OUR HELP. THEY want us out - and it is their country. Iraq will remain in shambles as long as we are occupiers, count on it. Seen Afghanistan lately????? 2 years later?????

16. Sorry can't support your poll, even though
I was initially against the war. And I have a son and nephew there, that I would like home. But we have to make peace there and rebuild. We need international help with Iraq and Afghanistan.
