The Pit Bulls at CBS's Throat
I have never seen a spectacle more disgusting than the people calling for Dan Rather's resignation, etc. It is like a pack of rabid pit bulls, tearing apart something....very unflattering. I would be ashamed to be a Republican at this point.
I would not want to be affiliated with a party that was so ruthless in their attack. Wasn't * supposed to be the compassionate conservative?
Maybe it is just because I am a woman. I find it very distasteful.

3. I'm watching Scarbourgh for the first and last time. Now it's a
Democratic Party conspiracy! Kerry is behind it. Poor Bush - they went after him with lies. People should resign. This is unacceptable. CBS is LIBERAL!

Where were these people when Bush was lying about Iraq. Where were they when he lied about - ANYTHING! Like, every time he opens his mouth! I can't believe this crap. Not a word about this maybe being a republican event. No investigations into reality. Just connecting dots. We know these guys can't connect any dots.

funnest thing I've ever seen since Ron Silver debated Triumph the insult comic dog during the RNC. Dan Rather messed up, as all news organizations have done at some point in time (see "Iraq War, The") and as a result I bet he'll be much more cautious about what goes on air in the future.

4. Dan Rather....
....broadcasts a story that is unflattering to bush based on forged documents. No one dies, but the republican talking heads are whipped into a frothing bloodlust screaming, "Heads must roll! There must be accountability! Proof of liberal bias!!!"

george bush* invades a soverign country based on forged documents AND bogus information. Thousands are killed and maimed. The republican talking heads don't even say "Whoops."

Proof of bias??
I think so!

10. Same shit with the Sandy Berger flap
They also wanted immediate hearings, blab bla, bla, national security breach, bla, bla. There is no shortage of right wing sharks at the feeding frenzy if anyone on the left looks vulnerable. I say fuck em',... put on the shark suits and let's go fishing. They flop around pitifully when out of their element.

5. CBS should mention the forged uranium letters from Niger
Bush used those to justify the iraq invasion. That's ten times worse than what CBS did.

9. When I wrote to CBS I mentioned
what about the yellowcake forgery, the Plame leak, the leak about Iran communications and anything else I could think of. Maybe it might jack them up to investigate them.

7. Shocked and disappointed when I heard ABC "piling on" - don't
they realize it will be THEM next time - that is if they ever have the courage to write a story that the White House doesn't like? Very, very shortsighted on their part.

8. Ummmm, newsflash, Rather is NOT an elected official.
he was someone really important and repected.

They act like he's a fucking public official.

Wow, they must REALLY hate this man.

Don't they know that only when CBS want to get rid of Dan, will they get rid of Dan.

11. Its really hard not to think that this was a hit on Rather.
Only one group of people had anything to gain from forging those documents, and it wasn't the dems or CBS. It is the people who hate the dems, hate cbs and hate rather.

The circumstantial evidence is overwhelming, I hope they zero in on the source for the forgeries asap.

If rather goes down, it is all over. The media will be completely without any glimmer of truth for the rest of this election. The message will be clear, dare to try and find the facts out for yourself, get your head chopped off.

12. I'm thinking along the same lines.
Is this revenge for outing bush* on the Abu-Gharib torture scandal?

At first, I discounted the right wing conspiracy angle, but I'm beginning to change my mind.

14. The right wing has absolutely hated Dan Rather for a long time.
Remember, to them the mainstream media is very liberal. To them CBS is a bastion of liberals. To them Dan Rather might as well be Stalin. Though im sure thier recent reporting has only served to make it worse.

Well the thing is, if these really are forgeries, there was a conspiricy. Somebody arranged it.

So the question is, who gained from it. The democrats didnt, not only has it confused the issue of Bush's national guard, it has also made people suspect that they forged the documents. Making it look like Kerry is using dirty tricks to attack Bush's military record, and they invented it all. It also doesnt fit Kerry's strategy. Kerry has been trying to get the message away from Vietnam for a while. He wants to talk economy and talk Iraq. This served to distract the entire media away from those things and right back onto the issue of service in vietnam, and issue that has not treated Kerry well, because the more we talk about Bush the more we are reminded about Kerry. Also, they didnt need to forge them. If they knew enough to make the information plausible, they would have known that there was plenty of actual evidence of Bush's laxed duty.

It is that fact that makes it nearly impossible that this was done by anyone who supports Kerry. If they knew enough to make forgeries that matched the truth close enough that people would varify it, they must have known that there was plenty of real evidence, and no need to forge a document.

And look at what heppened around the memos. Whoever did this had the ear of someone that CBS news and Rather trusted. So it has to be a group with some power. Also, after this story broke, it was everywhere. The media had ignored every piece of evidence up until that point, and suddenly Bush's guard service was in the news. They spread the word that CBS had documents that showed Bush failed in his duty, that is what made this whole situation so bad, it was so highly publisized that it eclipsed real evidence and it became a national story when it was suspect. Also look at how quckly the forgery story was disseminated. How rapidly it moved from a rumor, to Drudge, and on up. And how pervasive the story was on national and local news and opinion sources, all about CBS and forgeries, many speculating that Kerry may be involved.

This tells me that whoever did this has alot of control over the media, to the point where they could get the original memo's to the top of the news, and get the forgery story, before anything was ever proven, to the top of the news.

Who are the winners as of right now?
The republicans.

Who are the losers?
Kerry
Dan Rather

We will hopefully learn the truth soon, and hopefully we will hear the real truth. I hope I am wrong and the actual story is that someone not too important did this for whatever reason and the republican media just jumped on it because they concluded it was a forgery or they just wanted to spin it as a forgery either way.

i dont care about the souments, too much going on now. it all comes down to who is up for the job. the facts are the same about B and the guard.

Kerry Bled and George Fled
Kerry had to kill while George got to chill
Kerry saved a man while George suck from a beer can.

That is the problem. This has been one more smokescreen in front of the truth about Bush's service.

Bush's horrible record is enough to due him easy, on either side domestic and foreign, together they are jaw dropping, the whole guard shirker thing is merely icing on the cake.

(and once again, apologies to the animal rights groups)

Get the verbal equivalent of a lead pipe and beat the living shit out of them, strip their teeth out so they know not to bite, and all they can take is baby food.

Where are they? MF'ers each and everyone of them for not doing their job and then doing a job on Dan Rather. They all suck. Sorry for my language tonight, I've just had more than I can stand and more than I think any of us should be standing for. We can not let "them" get away with this shit anymore!
