Edited on Sun Sep-19-04 08:09 PM by 2004 Victory
Continental Skiff Boat Soldiers For Veracity

Showing video: Wigged, Revolutionary War soldiers saying

"George Washington did not tell the truth"
"George Washington was not a hero"
"George Washington was not there"

Hilarious!

5. A bit on guys questioning Geo. Washington's
service and character - a la swiftboat vets...

Can't remember the title of the bit, but it was funny. And pointed.

Started by talking about the negative campaigning. Said Bush was criticized for not defending Texas well enough against Arkansas, and Kerry for not getting wounded enough...

Well, it was funny when he did it!

22. I wouldn't describe "The Daily Show" as a variety show
(there are no singers or jugglers) but it's nice they won.

27. Category is "Comedy, Variety OR Music Program"
The Daily Show won the Emmy for Best Comedy, Variety or Music Program
The Daily Show writers won the Emmy for Best Writing for Comedy, Variety or Music Program.
Jon Stewart was nominated but did not win for Best Individual Performance in a Comedy, Variety or Music Program (lost to someone I've never heard of).

29. I only got a glimpse of the text on the screen
when they announced The Daily Show won. It must have been a comedy series then? It's not a music show. I wouldn't call it a comedy "series" either.

Variety, Music or Comedy Series

"The Daily Show With Jon Stewart," Comedy Central
"Late Night With Conan O'Brien," NBC
"Late Show With David Letterman," CBS
"Saturday Night Live," NBC
"The Tonight Show With Jay Leno," NBC

23. Here is a link to his Democracy fest scream upon request. Funny
http://sf4dean.com/gallery/album45

He is actually requested even on college campuses to do it. He does it briefly. Guess he might as well.

He is in the album here with the Florida Dean Dozen, Rob MacKenna from Tampa.

This was the first Democracy Fest this year. Already another planned for next year.

This video is just plain fun.

19. I just watched "Young Frankenstein" again last night...
...and Peter Boyle is screamingly funny as the monster, particularly in the "Puttin' on the Ritz" scene. Glad to see that he's on the side of the good guys.

20. The end of the George Washington SBV parody was called
something like Rowboat Vetrans for Veracity. The funny bit was seeing someone labeled a "Colonial Trollop" saying "George Washington really slept here!"

24. If you can, watch Peter Boyle in "Joe"
It's a '70s picture set in the hippie era with Boyle as a hardhat. I think it's Susan Sarandon's first picture. Terrific performance by Boyle.

26. Why Do They Even Bother With Other Nominees For Comedy Etc Writing?
Jon Stewart and the other Daily Show writers are hands-down the very best in the business today. I didn't watch the awards, and I'm not surprised they won again, but that doesn't stop me from being very happy for them all!

28. Jon At The Emmys:
Culled from various internet sources:

7:03 Daily Show double winner Jon Stewart denies reports that he may jump ship to CBS to succeed Craig Kilborn on the Late Late Show. "I'm very happy where I am."

7:04 And today's second "Whatchoo talkin' 'bout Willis" award goes to the reporter who asked Stewart, "What makes a woman happy in marriage?" His classic retort: "I'm sorry if I gave you guys the wrong impression, but I'm not a woman."

7:05 Stewart is asked to comment on Britney Spears surprise weekend nuptials. His response? "Who gives a f--k." Hey, this bitter-funny thing is contagious.

"I can categorically tell you how false that is. I'm very very happy here I am. Three cheers for basic cable. Huzzah. Huzzah. Huzzah." -- Jon Stewart reassuring the "Daily Show" team that he has no intention of taking over for Craig Kilborn on "The Late Late Show."

31. Plus Jon Recently Signed a Contract with Comedy Central
He *can't* go anywhere without a fight, and I don't think he wants one. He likes his schedule (one week off each month) and the relatively free range he gets there.

Kilborn was never as funny as Stewart, though - not much to kill and Maher just got unfunny all on his own, long before the flap over his 9/11 comments and backpedal.

George did not cross the Delaware, he spent the night here (as she drew her hand down across the front of her body). So funny.

I hope he plays it on the show tonight.

35. I saw it!
I turned on the TV just in time. My poor husband was brushing his teeth and missed it.

"Look at how he's standing? Who stands in a skiff boat? That's just poor boatsmanship!"

I laughed MAO!
