The Polls bouncing back .....
I am inclined to believe that:

1) The Swift Boat Liars were able to impact the opinion of the electorate with pure lies ....

2) The TANG Memos are having a similar impact: whether we believe they are genuine or not ...

Conclusion: Negative campaigning works !

Your thoughts ? ...

14. Gladiatorial politics
For the general public it is not about the issues and policies. It is about the champion. The people want the two candidates to use whatever means they have at their disposal to win the right to rule. The people want blood. They don't want clean campaigns and good sportsmanship, at least not in this culture. It is all about who wears the gold when the national anthem is played. It is not about how you get there that counts..."winning is the only thing"... and all that bullshit.
People are generally sociopathic in that they know what you want to hear and they tell you that. No one in a focus group wants to admit that he/she would like to see mudslinging. They will say, instead, that positive messages on the issues are most important. BULLSHIT!!!! They want the candidates to lock into combat like two Viking warriors fighting to the death to become king.
The "sheeple" syndrome also is very much reflected in focus groups. Focus groups are not to be trusted except for studying leaders and follower behavior. There is always one loud mouth, assertive asshole in every group sets the atmosphere. The rest of the sheep just sit there waiting for the "leader" to do his/her thing and they follow. Just look in every gathering where decisions have to be made and you will see one or two leaders and a bunch of sheep. This is what you get in focus groups. And, that's my opinion.

2. The numbers coming out now...

...are results of polls taken before the TANG memos had barely been reported. So, I think there's more to it than that.

3. I think it may have been an inevitable comedown for Bush
after the RNC and the SBVT ads kept Kerry on the defensive for more than a month.

4. Within the polling orgs that show a tie now the movement against
Bush was only 2% -

He never had an 11% lead! in these polling org's results.

But they do show a drop in Bush's polls - and that is great!

:-)

7. Yeah ... It is so obvious that many polls are being skewed ...
... through biased methodology .... and they are being called on it now ...

The lies can only stretch so far: Bush are in for a big correction ... Karma demands it ...

10. What's interesting is that Pew poll
that shows Bush up by 12 among RVs Sept. 8-10 and tied Sept. 11-14. I suspect the 12-point swing is exaggerated, but now Pew is in line with Harris, CSM and Democracy Corps.

5. Most Americans don't know how to be 'for' someone, only 'against'
So you have to present an image of being 'not a bad guy' and give all sorts of reasons why the other guy can't be trusted.

12. Look at the Fear Factor type TV and I tell you
that we are just a few steps away from having prisoners eaten by lions or trained as gladiators.

Great link on the mudslinging against Jackson's wife...he won anyways..but he blamed the mudslingers for her early death.

Well we all know about Jefferson and Sally...or I think we all do...

edit:...mudslinging has always worked to some degree and has always been around!

9. Kitty is having some impact too
She had a long interview on WGN radio in Chicago today on their morning show. A very friendly discussion.

That stuff has to start to hurt Bush at some point.

13. You would think that a past enjoyed by Dubya ....
Edited on Thu Sep-16-04 04:26 PM by Trajan
Would eventually come back to haunt him ....

You would think ....

In a fair-minded world: it would ....

Which explains why they have replaced the fair-minded world with the shitty one that we now 'enjoy' ....

Remember the Clinton years ? .... OUR lives were good: the GOP did their best to make CLINTON's life a living hell ...

Now: Since they now control the reins of power: they can spread that ill-will around more .... to us ....

Dubya's truth will come back, kicking and screaming if it must: but he cannot avoid it forever ....
