SoCal Update: Smarmy, sanctimonious David Dreier outed by
local alternative/progressive press (LA Weekly magazine). It was during a call-in radio show (I beleive the same station that carries LA's Pacifica network).

At anyrate, lots of callers calling in hitting him for his anti-gay hypocrisy and more importantly how his significant other is on his staff and receives a very high salary because of this.

I'm not normally for outing, but Dreier is soooooo sanctimonious he really has this coming.

1. Uh, isn't this what was the problem
with James McGreevy? Putting his boyfriend on the staff at taxpayers expense? Where are Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh? I'm sure they'll cover this non-stop for the next week, right?

See? Raw Story can be a legitimate news source! ;)

By John Byrne | Raw Story Editor

The left-leaning alternative newspaper, LA Weekly, is set to launch a major piece formally outing anti-gay California Republican congressman David Dreier for the first time in print media, RAW STORY has learned.

Titled “The Outing,” the 900-word piece penned by veteran investigative reporter Doug Ireland, will formally blast Dreier for his extremely anti-gay voting position and its apparent conflict with the relationship he is said to be having with his male chief of staff.

<snip>

“Rogers’ campaign against Dreier got a major boost when it was taken up by Raw Story, the hot new liberal gadfly newsblog,” Ireland writes. “Raw Story–which is edited out of Cambridge, Mass., by 23-year-old John Byrne… published an interview with Dreier’s Democratic opponent in 1998 and 2000, Dr. Janice Nelson, who said she was aware during her 2000 campaign that Dreier was living with his chief of staff, Brad Smith. ‘Brad was like an invisible presence,’ she said, adding ‘They really have the routine down slick.’”

Ireland also cites the fact that Dreier’s alleged live-in lover receives an extraordinarily high salary.

3. Yay, rawstory!
Great job!

So Governor McGreevey gets flayed alive for this, and David Dreier gets a pass? Welcome to the United Double Standards of America.

4. J. Edgar Hoover, part deux
Why is it Democrats can be gay and OK, but gay Repubs have to pretend to hate gays? Worse, they then go and prove it by actually doing shitty things.

OK, it's a rhetorical question. We all know it's because they are DISGUSTING LYING HYPOCRITICAL ASSHATS!

7. The Bluelemur story was posted in LBN when it came out
Why can't raw story articles be posted in LBN?

They are as legitimate as any other news source as far as I'm concerned.
