Latest idiotic remarks from repug relatives |
|
Kerry shot himself in Vietnam to receive his purple hearts Kerry signed his own purple heart citation Kerry committed treason by testifying before Congress about Vietnam atrocities
My God, how does anyone deal with this shit? I'm usually so amazed that I can't speak because my jaw has dropped to the floor. These relatives are college-educated, professional people who, as it happens, make shit loads of money. Guess that's why they're for *. But geez, have they had $1 * kool-aid pitcher night at some bar?

From reading other threads about this kind of crap spouted by repug relatives, it seems that we dems/progressives are usually too fair-minded and tolerant to really get into it with our loved ones. Maybe we (I) should change our minds about that. I doubt I will be slack-jawed if I hear it again.
Edit for typos

Even at the collegiate level, a store'n'puke artist can skate in many courses without ever having an original thought or critical question.
You can stuff 'em full of data but you can't make 'em process it.

actually, you're not alone. I have a few myself. They made a buck and they're now fascists. It doesn't follow but they are frigging stupid.

5. If they make over $200,000 then they have no choice |

They have to support the president who will continue to give them tax breaks while running the rest of us to the poor house.
But if you want to defend it then surf the net for the truth and get it out there. Tell your relatives to stop listening to the lies on Fox news.
Also, it is not treasonous to speak to congress about the issues surrounding a war. It is brave to speak out against your government when you feel they are on the wrong path. Just ask T. Jefferson, B. Franklin, P. Henry, etc.

I and my wife make well over that and neither of us would even considering voting for monkeyboy. We are lucky to make what we make, but it isn't what defines us.

I should have said "IF they make over $200,000 and want to keep their tax cuts while middle america continues to be burdened by corporate welfare" then they have no choice.

They also said that we invaded Iraq for the oil, and THAT'S OK, because America needs the oil.

8. They're unable to talk about the present... |
|
... because their candidate has been a miserable failure, except for the wealthy (and, even then, only in the very short-term).
Ask them why Bush didn't respond to the USS Cole attack, once the CIA & FBI finally confirmed Al Qaeda's responsibility in February 2001.
Ask them why the Bush Admin did nothing on Al Qaeda prior to 9/11, even though the Admin was repeatedly warned of the critical nature of the threat during the transition -- and threat warnings skyrocketed during the Summer of 2001.
Ask them how they feel about Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar still roaming free, more than 3 years after 9/11 -- especially considering that we'd knocked the Taliban from power within 3 *months* of 9/11.
Ask them what they think about the fact that Bush asked for an invasion plan of Iraq on November 21, 2001, barely more than 2 months after 9/11 -- and while we still had Osama bin Laden "cornered" in Tora Bora. Tommy Franks notably cursed when told that he had to redirect resources from the fight against bin Laden to preparation for an Iraq invasion.
Ask them what they think about the fact that the Bush Admin discarded/threw-out/ignored 11 volumes of post-war Iraq planning done by Colin Powell's State Department -- in favor of no plan, other than a deep belief in the magic of the free market.
The list goes on....

Okay, the NEXT President of the US.
If "R" was "D" and "D" was "R" they would buy that argument.

13. how does anyone deal with this shit? - Here's my suggestion for you |
|
At the next get together, stand up and announce that you now see they are right about the election. Wait for gasps and "attaboy/girls" to subside and then proceed with; I realize now that we could end up electing someone who will leave our nation unprotected, upwards of 3,000 Americans could be killed in a terrorist attack! I see now that we could end up electing someone who lies! He could lie us right into a war where even more Americans are killed and/or maimed. I see now that we could end up electing someone who loves big governement! They will spend, spend, spend our way into massive deficit spending! I see now we could end up electing george bush* and that's why I'm voting for Kerry!!
Then walk out and go home.
