feel so strongly about the war being the right thing to do. Then why don't they do the right thing, and enlist? Thats what people do when they believe in a cause.

1. And, as I pointed out to a relative, |
|
pay the taxes (the wealthy ones)to support the troops and the war.

6. But the wealthy don't pay taxes |
|
..at least to the degree that other folks do. Sixty per cent of the coprporations in this country paid no corporate income tax at all last year. Why should they? They have you and me to pay for their wars and our kids to fight them, and, best of all, they have a pliant media to question the patriotism of anyone who objects.
Pardon me while I :puke:

a conflict here at home between informed people and uninformed emotional people driven that way by propaganda. There are people sending their sons and daughters there.

3. And if they want to "protect and defend" marriage, why don't |
|
they make divorce and adultery a crime punishable by up to (insert number) years in prison? Wouldn't that be a more valiant defense of marriage???

10. About the Marriage Protection Act |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 04:58 PM by LibertyChick
or what ever the hell it's called: I asked one of them why they feel marriage needs protection? As far as I know, no one is stopping heterosexuals from getting married.
expect to hear about "Adam and Steve", though. :eyes:

5. "Thats what people do when they believe in a cause." |
|
This is why the 'Coalition of the Willing' isn't. If the countries who are now withdrawing troops really believed in the cause, they wouldn't be backing down. They've decided it isn't worth the few measly sheckles * is paying them to be our friends.

"If all these republicans feel so strongly about the war being the right thing to do. Then why don't they do the right thing, and enlist? Thats what people do when they believe in a cause."
Well, I believe in education strongly, and I don't want to be a teacher.
I believe in voting and our political system, yet I don't want to run for office.
I believe in supporting our police, and I dont want to become a state trooper.
I think this is a very flawed argument that will not win over many conservatives...

13. In what way is it flawed |
|
Look at it this way.
These people condend that we are fighting for our very freedom and security.
That, alone, should make you think that they would want to enlist, to do everything they can to make sure that our freedoms and security are protected.
And then, consider that our troops are spread thin. We are having problems recruiting, and we may have to resort to a draft. Especially if Bush wins and declares another war.
So, why should people who believe so strongly in this just get to sit back as innocent people are drafted and forced into service?
Why can't these cowards put their money where their mouth is?

There's no comparison between war and the things you named. why? Cuz most people are for things like education and police.
But do most people want this Iraq war? no.
