What's so scary about PNAC? |
|
By the time I found DU Iraq was about to be invaded. I already knew the neocons were keen on using the military for global dominance.
The fact that they wrote papers about it doesn't surprise me in the least. Is there something in PNAC that I'm missing...

They're laregly Jewish so that means it's all an Israeli plot by the Mossad. At least to the screaming 10% of DUers with paranoid tendancies who bark the loudest and smear anyone as a stooge and a fool who doesn't agree with them 100% on PNAC.
It's sort of funny that people who think some shadowy cabal of PNACers are trying to control everything from behind the scenes have a website and articles which clearly, explicitly lay out their agenda. PNAC isn't a conspiracy, it's a bunch of nutjobs who formed a lobbying group, like any other bunch of nutjobs such as the NRA or people who voted for Nader in 2000.
I believe there is a serious undercurrent of anti-Semitism when certain people on the left start screeching about PNAC, whether they're conscious of it or not. It seems to tie in with the Mossad/Israel was behind 9/11 theories.
PNAC is just another interest group that happens to have the ear of a foolish president who believes everything is black and white. Who cares? PNAC will be gone and forgotten in 3 years.

many distinctions here. What you really meant was Likud supporters.
by the way "<>" means "is not equal to"

A lot of the semi-literate conspiracy theory types on DU don't see a distinction. Jew = Mossad = Israel = Likud = Sharon = PNAC to them. That's anti-Semitism, even if they're not aware of it. And that bugs me, as a Jew.

10. I never even thought of the PNAC and Jewish interests |
|
other than mid-east defense.
What I am concerned about regarding the PNAC is the Imperialistic rhetoric, the antagonistic posture towards China, and the vague suggestion of world population reduction. The list goes on.
Anti-Semitic? I'll ask my Jewish hubby if he considers himself to be anti-semitic, after all, he is also disturbed by the fact that 7+ signers of the PNAC 'new world order' are in the pr*sident's inner circle.

Jeb Bush is a cosigner of PNAC and I don't think he's Jewish. What is scary about PNAC is that it spells out an agressive strategy to Americanize the Middle East, and contains a prediction of a 9/11 "Pearl Harbor type" event which is an important part of the scheme.
PNAC is much more "hawkish" than it is "Jewish," but I fear that there are those within our own party who agree with its goals because "hawkishness" is not limited to Republicans, and perhaps they secretly would like to see Bush win.
In the past, if anyone dare criticize PNAC then they are called anti-semitic, primarilly because paleo-conservatives like Pat Buchanen and others of his ilk blame it all on Jews.
By its strich dictionary definition Semites include all people of Middle Eastern descent. PNAC is anti-Semitic period. It would be bad for the whole region.

It's about, as AntiFascist said, the desire for a new Pearl Harbor to justify imperial mobilization.
It's in their own writings.

I detest Perle and Wolfie (for example) because they are war mongering imperialist scum - not because they're FELLOW Jews. (I find the appropriation of Judaism by those who like to call the rest of anti-semites really irritating btw)
If you think that PNAC will be forgotten in 3 years you're dangerously naive
As far as I know Dick Cheney & Donald Rumsfeld & Jeb Bush don't share my religious/ethnic heritage.
A minute amount of people have a problem with PNAC because of any Jewish (or even Likud) connection and those that do are more often found in freepville than on the left.
Spreading the "it's anti-semitism" line is just stupid. It's about not wanting the US to reign supreme over the world - strangely enough we don't all view YOUR way as the best, sorry.

9. Exactly. Look around. What you see is what they wanted. |
|
It was the blueprint that got us to our present state, 911 included. Why do you think Little Boy George sat in that classroom with that obvious grin on his face? He knew that everything was going according to plan, but had to put a serious face over it. Not very convincing. Why would they try to stall the 911 commission unless they had something big to hide?

for at least 30 years. If you think it's going away soon, think again. The only way it's going away is if those people are locked up as enemies of this nation. The link with Jews is not the whole story. I'm no anti-semite by any stretch of the imagination, but I am anti-traitor and anti-facist and pro-American.

11. I am not anti-Semite either. |

I am not really concerned with the fact that the Straussians are Jews. It's the narrow thing they believe in that is scary. Their ethnicity, religion or planet could be anywhere. These ideas have crossed all nations. The ideas are not Jewish but of empire. I think more of Genghis Kahn.

15. The fact that some of the most prominent & influential |
|
PNAC members are also Jewish, & have quite a history & working for & with the Likudnics in Israel. And PNAC plans also, conincidently, run parallel to the goals & aims of the right wing in Israel.
Does this have anything to do with Jews? No. Does it have anything to do with antisemitism? No.
But, when the subject is discussed, lots of people throw heated rhetoric around, & miss the main point. That there are people in our govt & in Israel, who have similar goals of American & Israeli control in the Mideast.
And the PNAC plans require endless wars, fought by the U.S., without any concern for costs of lives & dollars.

16. So the desire and plans to invade Iraq long pre-date 9-11. |
|
Much unlike what officials would have us believe.
So PNAC shows the government is lying about the reasons for war. This realization does scare most people.

19. The scariest thing for me is their belief that certain people, the Elite, |
|
according to them, are the only ones who are knowledgeable enough to understand, how society ought to be run and so have the right to lie at will to the Masses, who are ignorant and so are happy in their ignorance. This undercuts the very basis of our Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Ironically, the guy who gave the philosophical basis of this doctrine, was himself a jew, Leo Strauss, who managed to escape from Nazi Germany. His work shows that he believes in the Nietzchian idea of a Superman ( aka Hitler) and thinks the American ideal of a Democratic society is flawed. There may even be an element of racism in his own works because he thought black people and others who are not intellectually well endowed according to him do not deserve the same consideration as others, sort of a caste system in human rights you might say.
When you go into the PNAC document further, these ideas show up in a brazen proposal by Kristol and Wolfowitz to explore the uses of "genetic warfare" to control "unruly populations". To me that is the scariest item of all.Nearly fifty years after we have put the scourge of Nazism away, we have the victims of Nazism proposing evil on a scale even the Nazis could only dream about. That to me is one of history's saddest turns.
