why is no one talking about a progressive war tax?
-snip-

After America entered World War I in 1917, the "regular" 1 percent tax on personal income over $20,000 was hiked to 12 percent, with an additional 65 percent surtax imposed on the truly rich. Couples with $2,000 of income paid lower rates, although few families owed any tax at all since average family income was just $750 a year.

-snip-

Americans will likely pay for Gulf War II alone, including extra foreign aid for the so-called "coalition of the billing," at the same time deficits verge on $400 billion a year and the younger Bush fights for $1.57 trillion in tax cuts atop the $1.35 trillion he already won, putting an end to the 150-year tradition of taxpayer sacrifice in wartime.

2. great idea
a temporary 65% surtax on anyone making > $500k / year would be a great short term solution!

3. Chimpco knows how to play the "Hate America" game...
How about, everybody not up for a progressive war on terra tax, well, they just simply hate America. Then shouldn't all the feckin' idiots who jumped all over anyone who dared open their mouth against the PNAC's invasion of Iraq do likewise to those not willing to ante-up for perpetual war? Where are all the patriots? Shouldn't they have volunteered to pay up?
