Poll question: Favorite Michael Moore movie?
Edited on Sat Oct-09-04 03:20 PM by mvd
I can't make a complete evaluation as I've only seen Bowling For Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11. They are both good, but I'd give the edge to Fahrenheit 9/11 because it's on Bush.

4. Roger and Me
Roger and Me.

It was the first movie of it's kind I'd seen after my own political awakening and nascent involvement in liberalism in the late 80's. It cemented and validated values I was discovering on an almost daily basis and was the firmest indictment I'd seen to date of the corporatist state of the country.

For the first time, I saw irreverent prankster isms as an effective tool in an attempt to reclaim a voice that had previously been denied by the ethos of greed in the 80's. His rage-driven impudence coupled with a deep love of and bias toward America completely illustrated all the deep-rooted emotions I had but, due to lack of worldly maturity and a relatively young age could not express or define adequately.

I've seen many of films and TV series since, but as with one's first adolescent love of the neighborhood girl or your first exposure to the Beatles or classical jazz, there is a unique place in my heart and mind for that particular film.

10. Voted for Liberty Bound because someone should.

It's a potent little first film that deserves some notice.

BUT...

The "Michael Moore" in it isn't that Michael Moore. It's this guy:

"Michael Moore, US Navy Veteran expressed himself politically in an email to some friends, and one month later the Secret Service paid him a visit."

Other interviews include Michael Parenti, Howard Zinn, Michael Ruppert and former DUer Jeff Seemann.

Good movie. Asks some hard 9/11 questions, too. Available now on DVD.

11. Can't choose
I love all of his works. He also had a show called TV Nation which had an unforgettable opening. It was shocking in that it exposed the class differences in America, which I think is a recurring theme in all of Michael's work.
