Poll question: A Basics Refresher: Do You Concede That b*sh Stole The 2000 Election? |
|
Stunningly, even though this very website is founded on the fact that the 2000 election was stolen, there are DUers who do not accept this fact.
Do YOU remember The Coup?

and YES it was stolen. That was some the worse weeks in my life. I truly had a nervous breakdown. Bush has turned out to be much worse than I thought, and I had him on everything including a war.

15. I do too-and I saw it being stolen |
|
my testimony was even used by the NAACP in their lawsuit against this state. On election day, I worked at a polling place in a primarily African American section of town. I handed out voter information outside the poll while the only other white person-a cop- sneered at voters "what ya gonna do when your boy loses? ya gonna CRY"? They not only tried to close the polls more than an hour early, but they were telling hundreds of voters that they were at the WRONG polling place (they were not), and that the correct one was on the other side of town. We brought in church buses to bring hundreds of voters to the "right" polls, but the buses never got them there; the police pulled them over and made them unload because they didn't have "taxi licenses". :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:
Anyone who thinks Bush* won the election "fair and square" is simply delusional.

Sure hope they're Freepers, and not just really uninformed DUers!

6. We are going into an election here in Florida where there will be no paper |
|
trail voting machines.Representative WEXLER has petitioned the courts for a hearing on the matter and the court won't hear his case on the machines until Oct. 18th. Too late to fit the voting machines with paper trails. Jeb Bush, his Secretary of State Glenda Hood, and Broward County's Supervisior of Elections all calim that there is NO NEED FOR PAPER TRAILS. ........ THEY KNOW THAT THAT IS THE ONLY WAY THEY ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO SECURE AND STEAL THE ELECTIONS FOR LOSER BOY AND THEY ARE AIMING TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN. Like my husband said to me this afternoon, 100% of the people can go out and vote for Kerry but they control the machines and God only knows how they will manage to manipulate those machines to make the votes come out for Bush!!!!!!!!!!!!!

16. It is amazing that after the 2000 debacle NOTHING was done to... |

...really fix the mess. In fact, quite the opposite. Every action taken seems designed to further compromise the security and fairness of Florida 2004. It's sooooo obvious.

They are trying to do it again. This time I doubt the people will be as docile in accepting the deception.

The cookie trail katherine Harris left was blatantly obvious..From hiring a private contractor to remove eligible voters, to theirinability to produce a ballot that was easily discernible.. The same thing happened with the absentee ballots in I think MI just this year, luckily a democrat caught it and now they are having to mail out all new ballots.

12. For anyone still not sure |
|
Vanity Fair's October 2004 edition has an excellent article on the 2000 election, including interviews with clerks who were working for Supreme Court justices at the time. Vanity Fair isn't usually available online, but PDF's of the pages from the magazine are available here: http://www.goldsteinhowe.com/blog/files/VFPart1.pdf (part one) http://www.goldsteinhowe.com/blog/files/VFPart2.pdf (part two)

14. I have this issue and have been reading this article slowly |
|
The portion relating to the Supreme Court clerks is fascinating.
The portion relating to the vote in Florida makes me want to cry. It's amazing to me anyone could calculatingly plot to deprive the citizenry of its right to vote. I fully expect a lot of the same in 2004.
Read this article if you have the chance. It will leave a lasting impression.

13. Shakespeare woulda loved it. |
|
Edited on Sat Oct-09-04 04:33 PM by cavanaghjam
Let's see - the governor is the candidate's brother, the person in charge of elections was also helping said candidate in his campaign, a Republican turned "Democrat" designed a ballot which even to me (and I am neither in my dotage nor too very stupid) looked confusing. Shakespeare would have loved such intrigue in the royal court of America.
Add to the above malfeasance people wrongly disenfranchised as felons (who should be given back their citizen's rights once released anyway, but that's a whole separate issue) and some mis-educated ballot designer who didn't know the difference between "write in candidate here" and "write-in candidate here" and you've a great tragedy with brief comedic relief.
What's truly an indictment of America is that our precious Fourth Estate missed it. It took the British to reveal most of the suspicions as true.
One sadness overlooked is that the exit polls were correct. They reflected the will of those who were allowed to vote - they intended to vote for Gore and didn't realize they would either be voting for Buchanan or be having their vote disallowed for writing the name of their choice as well as selecting their choice by punch. What happened next? Exit polls were discredited. That meant there were a paucity of such polls in 2002. Since exit polls are a decent check on chicanery, we don't know how many of those elections were frauds.
Will it happen again? I don't know. Not much has changed. On the one hand there will be somewhat more vigilance against gross fraud, on the other we have machines that are not verifiable. I do know that successful thieves are made more bold by their success.
