Franks Says U.S. Should Have Hired Iraqis

NICEVILLE, Fla. - The United States should have quickly reformed the Iraqi army after most of its soldiers walked off the battlefield and got them "working for us," retired Gen. Tommy Franks said Tuesday.

Thats, Bremer, Rummy, and now Franks that have said the planning in Iraq sucks.

I can't figure out why, considering that he's been critical of the Iraq debacle. The smart retired generals, like Clark and Shalikashvili and McPeak, have endorsed Kerry.

That son of a gun needs to go back to Iraq and sit on the front lines for awhile. He'd surely come up with a few good stories about the 101 ways to screw up an occupation.

I wonder if he has spoken yet about how he thinks there should've been more troops. If he hasn't yet, he's sure bound too before it's all over.
