The bulge is back!

Oct. 13, 2004 | Salon looked hard for evidence of the president's mystery bulge this evening, but for much of the debate, on the ABC feed we screened, Bush's back remained out of view. At the end, though, as the president crossed the stage to thank his opponent, we caught this glimpse of something strange pushing out of the commander-in-chief's tailored coat. Is it part of an in-ear prompting device? Is it a back brace? Body armor? Confirmation that Bush is an an alien? The mystery deepens....

I watched a rerun of the debate this morning, and saw this shot just as everyone was shaking hands and playing nice to each other.

1. Look at Kerry's back--
it is curved not rectangular like W's back.

2. Same damn thing!
How can "bunching of the suit due to a heavily starched shirt and sweating" appear the same exact way twice on two separate occassions!?!?!?!? SHEESH!

3. Was watching cspan last night...
the bulge was noticable at the very beginning, just as kerry and b* were walking on stage. b* entered from the right, with his side to the camera. the camera seemed slightly to the right of center stage, and as b* walked to the center of the stage to shake hands w/ kerry the bulge was noticable for a brief second.

6. yes, we are talking about the same bulge...
that is why i mentioned the camera was slightly to the right of center stage, b* entered from right and as he approached center stage (which would have placed the camera slightly BEHIND b*) the bulge was noticable.

if you were attemting humor, please excuse my snippiness.

12. I saw it too.
Right at the beginning when they turned to go behind their podiums. I couldn't believe they would have him wear it again.
