I think all of them are underpaid - which as a society are we shortchanging most?

2. I voted for min. wage workers.
Those jobs do not pay enough to survive on.

Even soldiers, as underpaid as they are, have meals, housing and full medical provided. A career enlisted person can earn a decent living.

Very few in the service jobs can.

And I do believe public school teachers need to be better paid, but it's the service workers who need a doubling of their salaries because they are so low to begin with.

6. I also think the farmworkers deserve it equally.
It's backbreaking work, and many get subminimum wage.

4. Very tough
I couldn't see elementery teachers making 40K-50K, maybe an extra 30% but double?.

Had to go with farm workers, as many are paid by the bushel $2-$3 an hour is not uncommon. Spend a season in the field, You'll see life in a whole new light.

7. Umm... Don't know about your state, but here in California,
they already make an average of 40 to 50K. It doesn't go far here, though...

public elem teachers at 20K-22K. Cali's got a hell of a teachers union and a higher cost of living, higher taxes too.

Your right, It's a regional thing. I imagine they make even less in KY, LA & AR.

Edit: sp.

5. All of them
We're the richest country in the world, but we pay the bulk of our workers in weasel piss.

At some point soon, the much-vaunted American Productivity is going to take a nose-dive -- when people get sick and tired of killing themselves for their employers and the golden calf of the Work Ethic. Then, the employers will have to use the promise of increased wages as the incentive to increase productivity.

"But that's ... that's Socialism, God help us!"

Well, too bad.

10. Like you, I believe all of them should be paid more...
...but I voted "farmworkers - legal or not" because the migrant workers still labor for near-starvation wages right up to this very day. It truly remains a "Harvest of Shame," more than forty years after Edward R. Murrow reported on it. We can do better in this rich, abundant country - and should.

11. Paramedics here in San Diego get about $13.00 an hour.
These are first responders that have to save peoples lives.
