New line of thinking is needed to resolve the war in Iraq
The war in Iraq has produced several basic facts where we can nearly all find agreement. We now know that we went into the war using faulty intelligence. There were no weapons of mass destruction, no nuclear program and no connection between Iraq and al-Qaida.
We invaded Iraq in defiance of world opinion. We couldn't even get our neighbors, Canada and Mexico, to support us. British Prime Minister Tony Blair is our one staunch ally, and he went against the wishes of the majority of his citizens. Our standing in world opinion has never been lower.
We went "blind into Baghdad" without a clue as to what would happen and what we should do in the postwar period. We were told we would be greeted with flowers, instead we got road bombs. We were told Iraqi oil would pay for the war, so far we have spent over $150 billion.
So what to do? I would offer some advice from a noted problem solver named Albert Einstein, who said: "The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them." To bring new thinking to this issue, we need a change in administration.

President is unable to admit his mistakes and change course
If Mary Kunz is so enamored with freedom, why haven't she and her fellow Republicans been speaking out against China, Cuba, North Korea, Saudi Arabia and the multitude of other non-democratic nations? There was no more reason to attack Iraq than any of these countries.
President Bush's real war plan is a catastrophe. Even his top administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer, has said the plan was flawed.
Bush has no concept of reality. Listening to his speeches, you wouldn't think he reads the same newspapers as the rest of us. Oh yeah, he doesn't read. He's trying to get the voters to look at the war through rose-colored glasses.
Bush's resolve is better described as stubbornness, which is preventing him from admitting the mistakes and changing the strategy. His tax cuts have led to the biggest debt in the nation's history. Our kids and grandkids will be paying it off for generations.
If Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are only "feel good" programs, Kunz and her fellow Republicans can opt out of the benefits due them upon retirement.
Kunz has every right to like Bush. I prefer a president who will not deceive the voters while sending our kids into a war. My bet is that the majority of Americans will once again vote against him.

Why aren't Bush and Cheney held accountable for actions?
Now that the final reports on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and terrorist connections have laid to rest every lie President Bush and Vice President Cheney used to justify the killing of more than 1,000 Americans and tens of thousands of Iraqis, instead of running them for re-election, why aren't they being dragged before the World Court for their crimes against humanity?
