Joe Lieberman - Am I crazy or what?................ |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 07:43 AM by Oz
I recieved an invitation to a business breakfast from the New Haven Chamber of Commerce CT business expo. Joe lieberman is speaking at the breakfast which will be followed by a guy from an Indian company, the featured speaker, who explains how to outsource jobs from the country. This is how it reads:
"To ensure a high powered start to a day packed with activity, the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce presents the Trade Expo Breakfast and a renown speaker each year. This year, we are pleased to feature invited guest U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman."
"Hot Topic!
Join us as we welcome our HOT Topic! Featured Speaker. Outsourcing, we've read about it, heard contradicting reports about its effect on our economy and employment picture and may even currently be outsourcing or considering it. Our speaker will share with us his unique perspective on this truly HOT Topic - Do not miss this one!"
"Featured Guest Speaker Sanjay Joshi, Vice Chairman, Wipro Spectramind"
Is it me or am I just sensitive to Liebermans conservative repug leanings? Seems to me this is not something that a democrat should be encouraging.

1. I've been having problems with JL since the 2000 campaign.... |
|
...and you're right...his agenda no longer seems to be that of the Democratic Party.

2. Joe needs to go. CT needs to oust him and get someone who |
|
actually represents the people who voted for him. I worked a bit on his campaign when he first ran, and I regret it to this day.

3. I live in CT too and I can't stand him. |
|
First of all, he kept running for his senate seat while a vice presidenctial candidate with Gore. Weak move: it showed doubt in his ticket.
Since then he has tried to cozy up to Republicans. He acts like he is hawkish, but to the detriment of his party. I've seen him speak against Dean, after Dean said that the terror alerts were a manipulation that were timed just so to help Bush.
He tries to act like he is "crossing the aisle," a "bi-partisan," but he doesn't realize he looks like a traitor to democrat values.

4. You would think that someone in his office would say............... |
|
that it really isn't a smart move to be associated with helping companies outsource good jobs. One would think. Then again, he knows who butters his bread.

5. There was a Holy Joe 'appreciation' thread on here last night |
|
It was pretty funny. Personally, I'd appreciate it if he would resign from the Senate and shut his smarmy trap.

9. I hope someone challenges him in the primaries for 2006. |
|
Connecticut is a solidly blue state, but it seems like the Democratic leadership at times appears a bit less than 100% organized. Joe's a bit too much of a Zionist for my tastes. I'd like to see someone like Larson challenge him perhaps?
