WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- U.S. household finances appear "in reasonably good shape," Federal Reserve chief Alan Greenspan said Tuesday, downplaying some analysts' concerns that high levels of debt might limit U.S. consumer spending in coming quarters.

"If lenders, including community bankers, continue their prudent lending practices, household financial conditions should be all the more likely to weather future challenges," Greenspan said.

2. Everything is fine if your rich but we're the "lucky duckies." Greenwhore
is a shill for the monied elite. Oil prices are no problem if your rich. Debt is no problem if you're rich. Inflation is no problem if you're rich. But the problem is, we're not all rich like Greenspan. He shilled for Bush for the tax cuts because he didn't want to see the Fed run a surplus. I hope he's happy now because those days are past us now.

3. actually I think Bush "ignored" the advice from Paul O'Neill &
Greenspan about the surplus available...and then Greespan went on the "whore circuit" after AWOL got his way.

hence we have DEFICITS for you and your childrens kids.

4. When Greenspan lives on minimum wage for a few years. . .
I'll be delighted to hear what he has to say about the economy. Until then, he can sod off.
