Why don't people bring their lawnsigns inside at night?
It's not like a lot of people are driving by in the middle of the night. Put them out in the morning and take them in at night.

1. I shouldn't have to
Thats why

Plus I have 10 backup signs so I don't really care if they steal mine.

3. It'd be better if 10 houses had signs out during the day than to have
one person with ten signs getting one stolen every night.

4. If they were going to steal one every night
They would be caught by the third night.

5. It'd be better to have 10 Republicans in jail...
...than to have ten signs in other peoples' yards.

9. Are any actually going to jail?
Unless someone actually goes to jail, it's better to have signs in front of lots of houses during the day.

Plus another DU'er posted a hilarious story about someone he knew that caught his neighbor in some rig-up where the sprinklers and lights would turn on, and got a picture of him!

I wonder where I could get a bunch of bear traps.

6. I shouldn't have to, either, but I do
I had two stolen in two nights. K/E signs are getting scarce here and I just have one left, in addition to what I put out in the yard. I'm keeping the one in reserve in case someone else's gets ripped off.

Yes, taking it down and putting it up is a pain in the ass, but it beats the high blood pressure I had on the two mornings I woke up to find the signs gone.

7. I had two signs stolen and then one of them was returned two days later
It was very odd.

Anyhow, I went to demstore.com and ordered a bunch with two day delivery for backup.

The more signs they steal, the more desperate they are.

2. It's too much trouble for me.
Or I guess I'm just lazy. I shouldn't have to take it in every night for fear of aholes stealing it.

8. I bring everything in every night , now
I had one sign stolen Saturday in the a.m.
Now I bring all my stuff in at night . Including
the "a republican stole this sign ha ha ha typical" sign.

I've also added 3 new signs "bush put the U.S. in debt to
China ! " and "2% of cargo is checked at ports , airports
and borders" and "Support our troops vote for KERRY"

They steal my sign and my signs multiply

15. My son-in-law puts flood lights around our property
that switch on and off if someone trespasses. This could solve some lawn sign problems. Put up a couple of floods with a sensor that turns the lights on when someone tries to steal a sign. When the flood lights go on they are caught red-handed and it will probably scare them away before they can yank a sign. It shouldn't cost more than a hundred dollars.

16. How about we alternate.
Bush supporters can have their signs out from 12am to 5am, and Kerry and third-party supporters can have their signs out for the rest of the day.

It's upsetting - a place called "Republican Headquarters" opened up down the street from where I live. They have a giant Bush/Cheney sign, along with your obligatory smattering of American flags - I guess to lend some credence to the very un-American behaviour of this administration. Ever since they set up shop, I've seen Bush signs sprouting up in the yards of my neighbors, like weeds.

Am I the only unlucky individual on this board who can say he has a "Republican Headquarters" in his town?
