I voted in Fl for John Kerry today, and I'm not sure I should have. |
|
As I was leaving the polling place, which is in the Supervisor of Elections headquarters(who is a Repug), I began to wonder if they are able to get results for each day's voting. If so, what is to prevent them from reporting the results to the State Repug Committee so they have a head's up on the vote. I am really worried about this. Is there any law that prevents election officials from knowing the counts before election day? It was by optical scanning by the way.

The votes remain sealed and uncounted until election night.
I wouldnt put it past them though.

2. We were told at our Dem meeting in FL |
|
To vote early and not use the touch screen.
Don't worry-we're watching them like hawks in FL.

Also, optical scanning is the method used in Leon County, one of two (I think) counties that got their vote tallies correct the first time in 2000.

8. Thankful that I am in Leon County!! |

I got help from Ion Sancho, who must be the best elections supervisor I have ever seen. He was out helping people, shoulder to shoulder with elections workers.

10. Ion is great! We had a very low spoiled ballot rate in Leon Co in 2000 |

|
He is clearly someone who needs to be in government for a very long time. One of the good guys, for sure!

We voted yesterday here in CO using the touch screen but we checked our ballot twice before pressing the vote button to make sure it registered for Kerry. Is there another problem with touch screen voting other than that?

3. It's good of you to vote in Florida. |

But I have no faith in the counting whatsoever.

6. I have to agree. Kerry could win by a million votes but |
|
more than half will not be counted. I simply do not trust the Repubs. It is the 11th hour for them and they will not go down without dirty tricks. And it will even be blatant. They have no honor at all.

I wanted to be sure they'd let me vote. If something were to have gone wrong, I'd have had two weeks to contact the local Democrats.
I'm not confident at all with the counting, but I doubt it matters whether you vote now or on Nov. 2.

16. I found on my absentee ballot (diff state), the dems are listed first. |
|
Do a search to make sure using things like: democrat, 2004, election, your state, etc. I ended up finding a dem site linked to my state which told me who was who. I just happened to notice that they were the first choice under each category. I went totally straight dem :-)

13. Yes, Fl has early voting, as does 37 other states. Not sure if |
|
Wis. is one of them. Not all regular voting sites are open. Although I have heard in some places they have set up voting sites in shopping malls.

18. No regular early voting here in Wisconsin. Only absentee.. |
|
I can see where it would be great for those who think they might be on a purged list to go early enough to fight it.
