Back off The Plain Dealer per K/E Ohio
<http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/10/24/124613/78>

by em dash:

I just received this email from Kerry/Edwards' Ohio media director and CC'd to Stephanie Cutter, David Wade, and Mike McCurry:

I just heard from the paper that they are NOT endorsing tomorrow. They are holding off for this weekend. This is a big big victory for us that we got them to delay.
Our guidance is that we NOT do anything inflammatory with the paper. It most definitely will backlash.

I will post this in the OHIO forum as well.

1. If they endorse * next weekend it would be worse for us than
if they had tomorrow.

3. they voted to endorse Kerry
but the head person at the paper overruled them. and so there was some controversy and now they are delaying because of it.

4. Their Publisher is hard core right wing
Alex Machaskee is apparently a very controlling person- and terribly bright, I've heard it said.

If he had any sense, he'd let his editorial board go with their own reasoned opinions- but as we all know, the far right has a problem with honesty and integrity.
