While I won't leave should * be re-selected, I'm struggling with . . . |
|
whether I would really want to raise a child in this country. I'm 28 y/o female in a committed relationship. BF and I want kids, but I am really concerned about the direction of this country and the effect it has on the world. I'm trying to remain positive and have been working hard for a Kerry victory, but this has been weighing on me. Help, I think I've completely succumb to pre-election anxiety disorder?

... made the decision to live here in NZ (where the Mrs. is from) in part because we don't want our kids to grow up in the US. Quite apart from their increased chances of being used as cannon fodder for the PNACs crusades, we think kids grow up too fast there (and no social safety net doesn't help either).

2. Take a night off, take a long hot bath and clear your mind. |

Get some rest and you'll come back strong tomorrow, ready to get back in there and fight.
It's understandable to feel overwhelmed and anxious, but it's not anything we haven't all experienced. You'll get past it.
Just remember there are 100's of thousands of people working very hard to get this done and it looks very promising.

I keep telling myself not to look at the poll numbers. And to think, I don't even watch TV. I'd be a total basketcase if I had cable.

Forget the election and everything else. Honestly, if you're personal ties to family aren't strong and you have a way to make a living in another country, just go. I'm 47 and I don't think this country is "all that" anyway. Raise your kids with health care, parental benefits, equal opportunity, tolerance, etc. It's only our programming that keeps us here, patriotism, US is best, bla bla bla.

after the 70's revolution i had 2 sons and 1 daughter. i raised truth seeking, respectful and kind people, but i am so ashamed of this country. our apathy brought us to this horrific place. we absolutely must remain vigilant and resolute even if we win the election. these constitutional transgressions must be exposed and remedied.the current administration must be held accountable.
