The Iraqi Resistance Report has not been vetted by US military censors. It is based on reports filed by non-western reporters on the ground in the locations mentioned, as opposed to US military approved reporters barricaded in a hotel in Baghdad, so it is not suitable for the news forum.

The reporters who file the these stories do not even attend US military briefings. They are spread out all over Iraq in areas where it would be too dangerous to have a US military briefing. These reporters routinely disregard US-imposed press coverage bans, and many of their stories are the result of unauthorized entry into areas that have been cordoned off and declared closed military zones by US officials.

1. Personally speaking,I don't think of Mafkarat al-Islam...
as a credible source;maybe that is why it doesn't feature in LBN.

2. As noted in disclaimer, it is not vetted by US military censors

It is highly probable that at least some of Mafkarat's reporters have never even seen the inside of the Baghdad Sheraton.

on edit: In light of the current situation, as events unfold, it would be most prudent for those with knowledge of explosive devices, terminology and nicknames for same, etc, to follow the example set by Mary the mother of Jesus on hearing comments of the Magi: she kept those things, and pondered them in her heart.

3. Thank you for today's demo. of wit ,wisdom, and humour...
one of the many reasons why I love DU; I learn something everyday, usually whilst crying with laughter.

Yours,in ignorance.

I would have no problem with these claims,if they were reported elsewhere,or if previous claims were verified,or more proof were given.

4. Well, the US shoots journalists, it bans them from covering its activities

So the only war reporting now is done by what are basically undercover agents, who risk being killed by even being there, and risk a worse fate if caught with equipment, or camera.

Cameras are an especially touchy subject since the release of the popular Abu Ghraib series.

And the danger is not just from the US. Ironically, the US war on journalists, together with the wildly successful "embedding" program, has put any reporter who does dare try to cover anything at risk of being thought a collaborator if seized by a Resistance soldier who does not know him, and since the Resistance includes everybody EXCEPT the collaborators, well, you see how it goes.

Probably the worst breach of journalistic standards is that it is very likely that at least some battlefield reporters are also functioning as Resistance fighters themselves :)

5. If the last remaining BBC journos leave, then I will ....
believe you on this;"So the only war reporting now is done by what are basically undercover agents".

I was going to say that these claims are as believable as US spokebot, but that's not fair on Mafkarat, as the US military never knowingly tells the truth...

6. If BBC reporters are unauthorizedly entering closed military zones

that have been declared off limits to the media, and defying cover bans imposed by the US military, then they are doing it undercover as well.

I haven't seen any BBC reports from many of the battlefields where Mafkarat operates. Because there are UK troops actively engaging in the same activities with their US comrades, it would not be any safer for BBC reporters to go there than it would for US ones.

In the larger picture, it doesn't really matter whether the populations of the crusade states believe local reports. The people who live in the battle zones don't really need Mafkarat or CNN or anyone else to tell them what is happening, and it is their enthusiasm, or lack of it, for US activities that determine how "safe" Americans there are, gunmen, journalists, and free-lance "interrogators" alike.
