This has probably been asked before, and I missed it, |
|
but just WHAT do we have to do to pull Pat Robertson's and Jerry Falwell's tax-exempt statuses? They are so blatantly pro-Bush that it's ridiculous! And they make no attempt to hide it!
TAX THE CHURCHES!

1. There are more than a few churches and religious organizations that |
|
clearly cross the line. Those who DO should certainly have their status yanked. There are others who I am sure cross the line the other way, but have not the wealth/media coverage to get THAT message out. I am betting most mainstream churches are pretty careful NOT to cross that line; Robertson, Foulwell et al are profiting hugely BECAUSE they cross it and inflame the sheeple and extort mucho bucks from them.

2. I want to pull theirs for starters- |
|
once THEY'VE been punished, the others will fall into line, and you'll NEVER see religion in politics again!

3. It would be very handy to have a simple checklist of |
|
who to contact, email, call or whatever to get the ball rolling and report tax-exempt status violations. This list could apply not just to these two guys but to any local churches who are pulling pre-election crap (we've seen more than a few stories of that here on DU)
Who ya gonna call? How should we document violations? What should be done?

Like the boycott Sinclair sites, with the email forms, or petition forms.
If there was a site with simple how-to steps, or forms for us to fill in and print or email, we could get to work. (I can't set something like that up)
For instance - DUer's have spoken about their churches displaying political brochures - it would be so simple to snap pix with phone cams and take a sample of what they're handing out as proof.
