Should Kerry "pre-empt" a possible attack? |
|
Should John Kerry make a statement concerning a possible attack before the election? Should he say something like, "If, God forbid, we are attacked before the election we must all realize that this would mean, more than ever, that the election must go forward. This would mean, more than ever, that we need a better leader who can do a better job." What, in your opinion, would be the dangers of such a statement? If Mr. Bush and his cabal are planning to use an attack to their advantage, how would be the best way to defuse such an event? What do you think. :hi:

1. I think if that Druge Report story gets legs he should consider it |
|
I don't know if he needs to borrow trouble if not, but definately I hope he has his speech writers working on a drop-in if necessary. Bryant Check it out --> http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com

3. Good point. I am just worried that if the vote percentages are as |
|
close as the polls suggest (and I am not TOTALLY convinced)an "event" might pull too many fearful folks back to Mr. Bush. It would be a disaster even larger than the attack, imho.

He needs to bring it up a lot so that the media has him on record warning public that Bushies are thinking about doing something to suspend elections...

4. I think that would backfire, big time. He doesn't need to wave |
|
the conspiracy flag but appear solid and responsible, even in the face of a horrific attack. Of course such a statement could be a warning on several levels.

the possibility of an attack. That's just as good as the bush team ADMITTING that they can't stop attacks, and therefore America isn't really safe with them in the oval office. That whole scare tactic by the bush admin. was the equivalent of admitting incompetence in the war on terror. That would make all those "scared little old ladies", that the repukes say are voting for shrub, take a second look!
Kerry needs to say this far & wide, and help to calm people and encourage them that, if there IS an attack around election day, all the more reason people should get to the polls to vote for him.
Of course, we know the bush clan. What they'd do is have a big "terrorist attack thwarting" all over the 6:00 news! But they're prolly planning on doing that anyway. Remember Rove saying they had some more surprises up their sleeve? Terrorist attack thwarting (TAT) is probably the one they'll pull on Sunday night, 10/31, Halloween. In fact, I'd bet $$ they're going to say the terrorist were trying to hide under the cover of Halloween. That way, fundies can turn it into a national religious holiday for when the world was saved by george dubya bush, his holiness.
:kick::kick:
On edit: In fact, I think I'll start a new thread about it...it will be good if DU lurkers and watchers get a heads up about what possible kinds of things to look out for from the repuke campaign.

7. Thanks for the comments. |

It would eventually come out that they engineered a "thwarting" but that would be too late, probably. I agree, I think, that Kerry needs to get out in front of as many of these possibilities as he can.
