Homeland Security's still at it! |
|
Part of Home Depot's associate product knowledge training system is the HDTV Info Channel. We have a satellite dish on the roof, and over it comes special programming about new programs, new products and so on. It's not two-way TV, but it's useful.
Two days ago I saw the little infomercial about the survival kit we've started selling. This is a good product in hurricane country; there is enough stuff in there to get you through the first three days of any disaster. I think it will do okay
The announcer was up there pretty excited about this thing..."it's got water. It's got emergency rations. It's got a complete first aid kit and a radio with long-life batteries." So far not bad. Then the piece de resistance..."and it was developed in cooperation with the American Red Cross and the Department of Homeland Security."
Homeland Security? Visions of Symbolman making Tom Ridge's head rock back and forth come into my brain...yup, you guessed it..."There is plastic sheeting and duct tape in the kit. We packed it at the top so you could get to it right away." (He didn't sound too excited about these two items.)

1. And you can be sure the Red Cross... |

... was paid a royalty for attaching their endorsement to it, too.

2. Well, keeps the glass window from shattering on you. |

And Republicans manufacture the duct tape.
Does it have something for holding documents you want to protect?

4. No, just duct tape, and not very damn much of that |
|
It's a "ten yard" roll, only 30 feet of two-inch duct tape.

when you could fix anything with duct tape. I hate seeing stuff sold using fear as a selling point, it sounds like tney could have pulled off the "Y-2K" disaster kits and used a new label. I like Home Depot alot, even better if they get a throat plate for my Ryobi BTS-15 table saw. Wanna help a brother out and get me one?
