For the freepers, You fought the wrong war |
|
The war in Iraq was about a BIG lie. We picked on a defenseless nation (we thought) and lied to the American people about why we did it. The truth is it was a combination of Oedipal Bush pay-back and PNAC loonies at the helm. Your selected President has NEVER been in charge. The Iraqi people are tougher than they thought. Problem is, to win, you have to kill all of them. They beg to differ.

1. Be careful, some freepers want to to see Iraq as a giant glass runway. |
|
They are REALLY HOT about it. The fetuses inside the hundreds( of the 100 thousand + that we have 'bombed to valhallah (or whatever)), of pregnant women are but 'collateral damage'
CULTURE OF LIFE!!!!

2. "have to kill them all" Don't you wonder why Bushies aren't concerned |
|
about that?
Does it not occur to them that, using their method, we would have to do this everywhere all over the world? OR Does it occur to them and they don't care? How can they think this is even possible? Who's going to do it if every last one of us doesn't enlist right now? What about all of the "collateral" damage? Is that moral?
This is very puzzling.

3. "We picked on a defenseless nation" |

This is the only kind the freepers advocate, using somebody else's kids as fodder of course. My take on this is that freepers are primarily rw nut case inmates with computer privileges. Social deviates in for child rape and that sort of thing.

4. I may sound pessimistic |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 01:59 AM by Selatius
But I think we're never going to see an end to the war that is satisfactory in the least bit. I think, realistically, we're going to muddle through. I think we're going to come through with an Iraq that is united, but it will barely hold together given the history between Sunnis, Kurds, and Shi'ites. The fact that the majority of Iraqis wanted us gone according to the last poll the CPA took just means we're going to encounter more resistance and bloodshed than if they supported us all around.
It won't matter who occupies the White House on Jan. 20; the war is still going to be there to deal with.

6. Hi Selatius....Welcome to DU! |
|
I see you've been here a while, at least, but I haven't encountered your posts until now.
You're very correct: We've gone out, butt naked, with no shelter in sight, and opened up a hornets nest. The bush administration's stupidity is limitless, as is that of his blind followers.
It is going to take a miracle to create peace in the world after this. In fact, trying to even THINK of "peace" settling on the hearts of those who have already lost their loved ones in this insane battle, is a pipe dream... both for the American soldiers and for the Iraqis.
It stands at about 1100 US soldiers killed, and over 100,000 non-combatant Iraqis (i.e., elderly, women, children, and non-combatant males) who have died needlessly for bush's oil buddies.
Everything a person does has repercussions....everything. Right now, the U.S. has " a lot of 'splainin' to do'! I HATE bush for using the money I WORKED FOR <taxes> to pay to kill our soldiers and innocent Iraqis.
I hope Kerry wins, and O8) I pray to God that he can turn this nightmare of the world around O8) .

5. Taken from the PNAC web site days after 9/11: |
|
http://www.newamericancentury.org/Bushletter.htmBut even if evidence does not link Iraq directly to the attack <9/11>, any strategy aiming at the eradication of terrorism and its sponsors must include a determined effort to remove Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq. Failure to undertake such an effort will constitute an early and perhaps decisive surrender in the war on international terrorism.

This is a perpetual war to maintain the military/industrial complex under the guise of an ongoing "external threat."
Regardless of whether you consider yourself at risk of being detained or not, American civil liberties being trampled should impact every American citizen; whether you're a left-winger at the ACLU fighting to protect the constitution, or a right-wing member of the NRA fighting to protect only the second amendment.
Unlike many here, I do not have disdain for FreeRepublic posters. I find that they've been misinformed, and they're terribly misguided about America's predesignated role in the coming years.
So, I also want to address some sentient trolling FReepers:
There is a certain sense of security, I understand, in believing that you are tucked safely in the core of the world's only superpower - knowing that we have unparalleled capacity to subvert our rivals. I'm not a religious man, but I'm sure that there is also some comfort in believing that Bush is somehow under mandate from God.
As a Bush supporter; whether you're rooting for American world dominion, or you believe that the Lord acts through Bush, you must realize that such a path will be met with even more violence and bloodshed than we have seen up until now. Arrogance will only be met with confrontation - just as simple human principles work on a small scale, they work in the larger sense of things. We cannot act in a reactionary manner, as Bush has, and not expect significant retaliation in response. If that happens, it won't be left or right; democrats or republicans; liberals or conservatives paying the price. It will be the American people.
As for the ever-rationalizing moneyed class: I can only hope that some of you will see the light before blindly supporting this criminal administration out of your own self-interest. There is much more at stake here than your stock portfolio or 401k plan.
