Where is that post from yesterday which said that Bush was told he'd lost? |
|
Somebody posted this yesterday. Said that Bush was informed yesterday that the internal polls showed he'd lost, but he'd still have to keep up the campaign.
Others chimed in and said that the candidates are typically told the Sunday before the election of how they would finish. Something about the internal polls being accurate, and they already know who has won.
Bush seems so glum, and Kerry seems exhuberant. Can anyone find that post, or can we talk more about this here? I'm curious as to whether this is true, or just campaign lore.

I can see how previous candidates were told ahead of time because the races were not close.
We're hearing that both sides have internal polls that are supposed to be more accurate than the big media ones. I wonder who has the better internals?

2. That was purely speculative |

as far as I remember. This is how rumors get started, though it is a good guess if one has any experience with past campaigns. You can always read the faces when the real decisive polling is done. 2000 was actually accurate too, because Gore was surging to a close win and Bush was worried(not despairing).
If you want to do this yourself try to find pictures of Bush at rallies in the closing week of 2000 and compare to now. A picture of his Dad at his concession speech is at a photographer's website(I never bookmark the important stuff it seems).
This is all guesswork. With this secretive bunch lots of luck getting confirmation after election day.

4. That Original Poster Finally Clarified It Was His "Experience" |
|
He was asked repeatedly for a link, never provided one, was challenged by Hippiechick, and he finally answered he was only saying "it appears" that Shrub had been told, based on how he and Pickles and others "look".
