After the midterms, I couldn't post for days..the effect of the loss was too much..same thing after the recall...when you've put the blood, sweat and tears into it, you've sometimes gotta step away.

I haven't been here much today-and I haven't had the TV or Radio on since I got the word. I just can't do it. I've been home sick and I would usually like to have the news on all day. It's been a void but a necessary one. I don't need to get myself more upset. The food channel kept me company in bed today. Maybe better for my brain right now but certainly not my waist-line.
Can't wait to feel better physically so I can cook.

I was mad as hell this morning and just as vocal as the trolls, and that really helped get rid of some serious negative energy. I'm feeling better now, and more hopeful. But it will be several days before I should go out and interact with people, as I really don't like humans at this moment.
Thanks to everyone at DU. I'd still be in bed, and crying and feeling alone if it weren't for this board.
Right now I'm only pretending to be ready to fight; but I guarantee when the fog lifts, I will come out swinging.

I posted a couple of replies early this morning (PST)-- now I'm sitting at my desk with that burned out not enough sleep feeling. Time to go home and have a glass of wine. Tonight will be an EARLY bedtime.

They are out working to defeat BBV and beginning the 2006 campaign?
That's what I was doing. Felt good.
Now I'm alerting on the "Kerry screwed up" posters. It was the BBV, stupid!

Not a lot to say, though. I have sort of a feeling of "Is That All There Is?" We've been building up to this moment for 4 years and it's all gone in just a few hours and we're back to the same old shit for the next 4 years, with even more dire consequences. I haven't felt much like talking to anyone today.

and I'm not going anywhere. :hi: I am so proud of all of you the way you hung in there and worked so hard to right a wrong committed in 2000. We knew they could do it again and we simply weren't prepared this time either.
Diebold helped Bush steal this election.
Now we have another wrong, actually many wrongs to fix. You have the perseverance, the dedication and the belief that our country is worth fighting for.
Our forefathers did and much blood was shed. We are still a young country and work needs to be done to make the United States a country we can be proud of.
We are not all going to agree on how that must be done but there is strength in numbers.
We have the brains, the talent and the passion to change things even if it takes years to accomplish. Now is the time to start.
Remember, the Republicans have been working on this day for 30+ years and they are ruthless.
They won the propaganda wars and we have to learn how to overcome that. It's not going to be easy but I believe we can do it.

i'm still here.
Had to get out and away for a while to get my mind off of things. Went to visit my mom and dad. They are pissed at the turn of events. Esp. since my words to them this morning were:
"Don't worry, K/E said the votes were going to be counted. It was a campaign promise. They won't concede."
10 minutes after i hung up, i read the news here.
Riding over to their house i have a stretch of about 20 miles hiway through rural NC. Up until today it was literally covered with campaign signs from every party/race of 2004. Today, there were none...ZERO. The only ones i saw at all were the *moron/dickhead (B/C) signs in a few yards in the neighborhoods. And they had been moved to the street so you couldn't miss them. They weren't that prominant in the last weeks when i went over.
And there was not 1, not a single K/E yardsign. Very few cars on the road, and on those i spotted 1 K/E. In the past few months they were everywhere.
It there was any consolation in what i saw today, it was this. I think many many NC supporters of 'the Johns' felt damn rejected, as i do.

39. What can I (or anyone) say? |
|
John Kerry was a good candidate, and arguably a great candidate. I saw the debates, and he was Presidential in every way. He had ideas, enthusiasm, support, funding, experience - and, he was a genuine war hero - and, still, we wound up behind.
That's not the worst of it. We lost seats in the House and the Senate. And even that isn't the worst - Senator Daschle, an effective, capable leader in the Senate won't be returning to fight the good fight.
Does America no longer care about working men and women? Have we become a nation of Limbaugh zombies? Are issues of labor fairness, health care, the environment - and many other issues as well - all somehow obsolete?
I pray not. But I believe that I and we must first try to understand why we are losing so badly in so many ways. And, at this point, I haven't got a clue why John Kerry isn't the President elect.
Maybe one reason a lot of people aren't posting is that they're tired and numb. And hurting. Sometimes, talking, even with the best of friends, doesn't help much. Sometimes, it's easiest to just not say anything.
