Ed Rendell in 2008.
The Governor of Pennsylvania may be a good choice for the top of the ticket in 4 years.

1. How about the Governor of Vermont
Dean-Rendell, I could see that.

4. No more New Englanders, thank you.
I'd like the Dems to win once more before I die.

2. I'm from PA whoohoo!
I worked on Rendell's campaign for Gov. I absolutely adore him...

Rendell-Obama? or Obama-Rendell?

3. The key to 2008 is getting someone who can put more states in play
The midwest and southwest are our best options. Nothing in the south, save Florida without BBV, seems to be willing to budge. States like CO, NV, AZ, and NM will be in play with the right ticket, and places in the midwest like, IA, WI, MI, OH will be in play with the right ticket. We just need to have the right ticket that can make some inroads in these areas. Rendell is obviously a good possibility. Add in Richardson, Vilsack, and the Governor of Ohio. Couple those guys with a running mate from the south like a Harold Ford and we'll have ourselves a moderate ticket that can win.

5. In Michigan and Ohio, anti-gay marriage referenda were
on the ballot. I think that those brought out more * voters than would ordinarily go to the polls.

That, together with the terrible voting situation in Ohio, may have made the difference there this time.

Michigan is still slightly Democratic, and with a little coaxing may be with us most of the time for the foreseeable future.

In each of these states, a more forceful jobs plan would help quite a bit. We should also get ready for a plan to bail out pension plans, 'cause they're the next to go.
