Committee Membership - easy instructions? |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 10:52 PM by Kire
Are there any links to sites that explain the organization of the party, especially how to become an elected committee member and the responsibilities and privileges of the position?
My county party is really weak, with less than half of the positions filled, and I have met so many great Democratic people this year and I want to help them get involved to strengthen the party. I get stumped when I try to convince them to do it.
I googled it, and searched Democrats.org and my State and County Party sites, but I found nothing.
I am a committee member, but only after pestering the county chair for two months to be appointed. Now I hear there are going to be elections during the primary next year, so I guess I don't really know how it woks. I would call him, but he's probably asleep right now. So please post any links you might have.
Thank you for your time.

1. I don't know what state you live in but.... |
|
in my area you run for committee just like a political office. You get signatures of other Democrats to get your name on the ballot and then you get a "slot" on the ballot.
Come election time your stand outside the poll and ask people to vote for you...

state law says no electioneering within 100 feet
thanks, though
anyway, I was actually much more interested in the duties and privileges of why someone would want to run
