A small way to help educate the enemy |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 05:31 PM by PotatoBoy
I'm not a walking fact dictionary unfortunately, so for me to have a discussion with a Bush supporter on numbers and facts is not a good idea. I plan to redirect them to www.factcheck.org, explaining that it's a totally unbiased, non-partisan source of information, and that they've even called out lies/exaggerations from Kerry/Edwards too.
We just need some way to get the truth through their thick heads.

1. I tried that with my mother and she claimed the data is skewed. |

I think she's the one that's skewed.

Maybe if they have some level of moderation it can work but when you are dealing with wing nuts it doesn't matter what facts you direct them because they are not grounded in reality.

4. They're grounded in a different "reality." |
|
They have a different worldview. See my post below.

3. We need to try to stop "educating" them with facts. |
|
First of all, "educating" just reinforces the Radical Rightwing script that we think we're smarter than everyone else.
Second, this thing wasn't won or lost on facts. It was won and lost on IDENTITY. Read George Lakoff's "Don't Think of an Elephant." It explains it much better than I could here. And it's only about $10.
