Bush Co's OTHER Big Lies ....
Jeez the Media needs to look at the other lies spewed by these thugs not just the Niger Lie.

http://www.wsws.org/articles/2003/jun2003/wmd-j21.shtml

(snip)

August 26, 2002—Vice President Dick Cheney told the Veterans of
Foreign Wars, “There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has
weapons of mass destruction. There is no doubt he is amassing them to
use against our friends, against our allies and against us.”

September 18, 2002—Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told the
House Armed Services Committee, “We do know that the Iraqi regime
has chemical and biological weapons. His regime has amassed large,
clandestine stockpiles of chemical weapons—including VX, sarin,
cyclosarin and mustard gas.”

October 7, 2002—President Bush declared in a nationally televised
speech in Cincinnati that Iraq “possesses and produces chemical and
biological weapons. It is seeking nuclear weapons.”

January 7, 2003—Rumsfeld told a Pentagon news briefing, “There’s no
doubt in my mind but that they currently have chemical and biological
weapons.” This certainty was based on contemporary intelligence, he
said, not the fact that Iraq had used chemical weapons in the 1980s.

January 9, 2003—White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said, “We
know for a fact that there are weapons there.”

February 8, 2003—Bush said in his weekly radio address: “We have
sources that tell us that Saddam Hussein recently authorized Iraqi field
commanders to use chemical weapons—the very weapons the dictator
tells us he does not have.”

March 16, 2003—Cheney declared on NBC’s “Meet the Press,”
referring to Saddam Hussein, “We believe he has, in fact, reconstituted
nuclear weapons.”

March 17, 2003—In his final prewar ultimatum, Bush declared,
“Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that
the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal
weapons ever devised.”

March 30, 2003—On ABC’s “This Week” program, 10 days into the
war, Rumsfeld reiterated the claim that Iraq possessed weapons of mass
destruction, adding, “We know where they are.”

1. Absolutely right
In one sense, shrub and co are hijacking the issue. They are concentrating on this sole item, and they are passing the buck to the CIA. That's their MO, and they'll make it seem that, as a result, they are pure as the driven snow.

Keep the lies very much on the front burner, and keep hammering.

2. Huh?
re:"This certainty was based on contemporary intelligence, he
said, not the fact that Iraq had used chemical weapons in the 1980s."

Didn't he say just yesterday that we didn't go to war because of any new intelligence but because we saw old intellignece through a different prism?

jjjeeeessssshhhh!!!! Rummy can't keep his stories straight.

You are absolutely right.

We shouldn't get side tracked by the Condi vs CIA thing...keep uncovering the lies...keep putting them before the public...there was more than one!!!

3. exactly what I have been thinking
Everything chimpy has said and done has been based on lies, twisting words and masking facts: energy, prescription drugs, the environment, and most especially terrorism and the war. They think if they change a few words around in what they say, that we won't notice and it will just go away. With any luck at all, Congress and the media will begin to call him on his lies in all of these areas and then ... drip, drip, WHOOSH!

4. Word is getting out
I base this hopeful message on two points:

One: I saw an article posted here from another source that talked about the Bush tactic of naming legislation exactly the opposite of what it does.

Two: There's a new book coming out called "Weapons of Mass Deception" which could be a great resource document for democrats from National to local levels....

DU has to keep the pressure on............

....all that is necessary for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.......Abraham Lincoln
