1. divide and conquer....what else do they have to run on?
Everything that AWOL touches becomes a quagmire...

I also noticed the positioning of "who can keep the Americans safe" is now the mantra...

Forget...about the secrecy and lies of this admin. and the corporatism exposed with every policy decision...

7. Anyone who thinks that this war has made us safer is a prime
buyer for the Brooklyn Bridge! I don't think that argument will be hard to overcome.

2. Schneider and other media whores
ANY ONE of the dems would make a better president than the dimwit we now have. Agreed that we need to pull together and talk about democratic POLICIES, not personalities. Whichever dem wins the primary will have my wholehearted support.

The observation is certainly correct that the rightwing (read Karl Rove) plan, abetted by the media, is to ridicule and diminish ALL the dems in the hope of making W look a little better.

4. And unfortunately, they're succeeding
with that strategy, and we need to overcome that NOW! This means that Dean and Kerry people need to stop slamming each other, Kucinich's people need to get realistic and realize that he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell and that they need to quit whining that if he's not the nominee they're not going to vote, Braun's people need to do the same, Sharpton's people need to realize how ridiculous he makes the entire Dem party look and how ridiculous his whole campaign is, and the two or three people who support Lieberman need to realize that it's just not going to happen for their guy and he's going to be creamed in the first primaries. We need to be realistic and we need to be focused on the sole goal of getting the Boy King Impostor and his merry band of fascist criminals and thieves the hell out of the WH, no matter what our internal divisions and differences are!

I suggest all candidate bashers reread it as well.

5. WTF? Schneider said that?
Listen, my cat's litterbox is full of viable alternatives to Bush. Schneider's comment is a breathtaking insult to a fine group of men.

You are right, PeteNYC, already the Pukes are framing the arguments and setting the stage for 2004... we Dems had better get our shit together. I intend to work for ANY Dem that gets the nomination, regardless of my personal preference. For the folks who intend to sit out the election if their preferred candidate doesn't get the nom, well, I hope your principles will keep you warm at night ~ I hear nuclear winters are damned chilly.

Gotta go clean the cat's litterbox now, scoop out all of those viable alternatives to Bush.

8. Maybe, but...
I'm kinda excited by the passion some people have for their candidates. Sure, some of the bashing and trumpeting gets a little out of hand, but given the choice of that or ennui, I'll go for the high spirits. Quiet, reasonable, contemplative discussion of candidates is never a choice, except for the very few.

I've got a couple of horses in the race, but I don't see any reason to jump up and down for anyone yet. Primary season doesn't start seriously for a while, and this is just the preliminary jockeying. It's a long way to next summer. But, if anyone else out there has a favorite, go for it.

Someone is going to be nominated next year, and given the way things have been going for the past few years, there will be dropouts and new faces, and we have no idea now what will happen then.

Some people will lose their candidates, some people will change, and as we get closer to the convention, we should see a bit more unity.

For now, let them think we're a bunch of wild-eyed anarchists and assholes. Makes our job easier when we start to focus.

Fighting with each other is what we do best-- until we fight with them.

9. First resolution: Keep Dem candidates from attacking other Dem candidates
using Rove's talking points.

10. I wondered what planet
those idiots on Crossfire were living on when I saw that show today myself.

And what the hell would Tucker know about "what most people think." Where does he get his opinions? His backyard barbeques? His family members?

He's not exactly Joe Sixpack

Bottom line is the people in the east-coast based media are so supremely out of touch with what's actually going on in America we could all be speaking Chinese and they wouldn't ever notice.

12. It's the Repugs who don't have a viable candidate
and we have two and a half years of miserable failure after miserable failure to prove it.
