We've entered a era where machines control the world. This is not a fantasy "Terminator" movie. The people who control machines can do anything they want to. They can steal elections and conduct wars.
So where does that leave me? Back to my baby steps. Back to my single little candle in a dark world. I'm 66 years gold. Can I face a world that is destroying itself and not despair over my one tiny candle?
There is really no choice. But I will not give up on my candle. My choice is to be of service to other people who are waking up to the fact that they, too, only have a tiny candle. We are not the first nation this has happened to. We will survive because it is the nature of goodness to survive.
You must forgive me for crying. The death of dreams make us cry, but truth of reality makes us strong. Good luck today, everyone.

4. I too am 66 years old. |

I confess, though, that I don't truly get what just happened and I am struggling to make some sense of it. Everything I was raised to believe about America, and have believed through all my adult years, though there were times it was difficult to cling to that belief, has just gone down the tube. I am in counseling, trying to maintain my mental health, and what I'm learning is what I've always known, I guess. Like you, all I can do is shine my one tiny candle in the darkness, and vow to survive and hopefully thrive as my own person. As you said, the truth of reality makes us strong. Or it can destroy us. I know the choice is ours--but I am so infuriated that it is a choice I have to make in this once-great country. Each day will be a struggle. I wish you luck, as well. Let us continue to find support and understanding among our fellow DUers as we face the awful future that is ahead of us.

there are only about 50000 of us on DU. please make some phone calls, write, email.
tell kerry, your democratic congressmen, friends, anyone that will listen. that this election was a fraud.
americans talk a lot of shit.... when milosevic tried to steal the election 'they' said no, i guess the yugoslavians are a lot better than us if we just roll over and hide. at least try.
